At their meeting on Groups take part in church service The W erld Day of Prayer service was held in the Londesboro United Church on SuAday ' morning and Jack Snell was the greeter and the ushers were Danny Reid, Bob jamieson, Ron • Nesbirr and Bradley Lyon. Rev. Scott welcomed everyone and announced that ,the flowers in the church were placed in loving memory of Dorothy, Little. For the call to worship, UCW members Helen 4awson, Addle Hunking, Audrey Thompson and Margaret Taylortdok the leaders part and the Explerers and Messenger groups occupied the front pews. Shirley Seott gave the children's story with Explorer members Cheryl Bromley, Lisa Bosman and Connie Hoggart- sang a special number. The junior teacher was Helen Lyons. idle-tt Central happenings Legion Speaking On March 1, the Clinton Legion held their annual Speaking contest for Grades 4 to 6, 7 and 8. Students were picked from their individual classes and then they said their speeches to the school and the top six winners competed with Blyth School. The first place winner from each division competed at the Clinton Legion. There • were -24 speakers. 'Jeff ...IVIcNairrLfrom._Qw school won the Legion's senior competition. Jeff now will go .to. Mount Forest on April 13. Jeff represents 24 schools and over 30 Legions. Our. congratufations go out to Jeff for his outstanding . .achievement. Nutritional Breakfast On February 29, Mrs. Bosman's class of mixed Grade 1s and 2's held a nutritional breakfast at school. The .breakfast consisted of eggs, bacon, orange juice and pan- cakes. The class had been talking about eating a nutritional breakfast each morning. Hot Dogs On March 4, hot dogs were sold to the students who wanted them. The money was collected on Thursday and Friday. Tuesday about noon the students received their hot dogs. They found them ye ry delicious. Cross Country Skiing On March 6, pupils •Community events Plans were finalized for the annual congregational crokinole party when the church's Life and Work Committee met on March 10. It was decided that the party' would be held on March 19 at the Lon- desboro hall. The evening will begin at 8 pni and will • .ffe followed' by a dance. Ladies are asked to bring lunch and everyone is welcome to attend. The Recreation and Fitness group will meet at Hullett Central School on March 13 at 7:45 pm. Everyone is welcome to come out and get fit and have some fun. The Women's Institute Card Party will be held on March 14, beginning at 8:30 pm. Ladies are asked to supply lunch.. A shuffleboard meet -was held on March 5 and the high single couple it) the playoffs were Addie Hunking and Les Reid. Vietta Hoggart had the ladies' high single and, George Hoggart was the top:scorer for the men. The next match will be held on IVIarch 26. Sympathy is extended to Mrs. IVIyrtle Fair - service following the death of her nephew, Charle Mair, Mr. Mair died in Detroit,, Michigan and was 35 years old.
