Items left from the sale are going to the Vanastra Lioness, who are organizing a rum- mage sale forApril. The committee ap- preciates receiving all the many donations, and also thanks to all the people of the community and area, who came out and made this event a tot of fun and profit. "Come again' she .said, with a.smile, "the door is. always open." ." Lioness ' • -On Friday February 29, the Vanastra and 'Lioness held a Fun Night. It was followed by a pot luck supper, which was enjoyed by all, Tail -twister Lion Wayne and Lioness Diane went on during this time and after the meal a "Chinese Auction" was held. Glenn Smith won a ladies' watch, Paul Mellor won a set of glasses and Wayne Riley was the winner of the glass prize. - Entertainment by both clubs' was put on when a few Lions members became jet engines, while Lion Jim proceeded to "fly" the plane, with Lion Clem acting- as ground control. It was very enjoyable. Our L Lioness adorned sale iiets. • themselves in old rags and "gossipped" about Our Lions members, after which 'a dance and sing. song followed. Mothers who are involved in this very inip9rtant instructional assistance are Mrs. Maureen Dunsmore, Mrs. Glenda Gardner, Mrs. Lynn Harvey, Mrs. Karen Lehnen, Mrs, Susan McFadden, and Mrs. Carol McIlveen. On Thursday, February 28, Pamela Brownridge and Susan Robson represented the V.P.S.-at the Legion' Public Speaking Contest in Clinton. We are all very proud of the job that these girls did. On Friday, February 29, a very successful Eskimo*D ay was held at the, V.P.S. The highlight of the afternoon was the horse and cutter rides provided by Wayne McFadden and Dave s: new -correspondent lmowIedge of what it is • like. It is two gruelling days • of sitting on your butt warming a chair listening to lecture after lecture, the main mission being that you will learn to cope • better with your Cub pack or Scout troop. And I personally hope that the 'boys in our groups will appreciate the sacrifice, their leaders have made for, their benefit and will show them the same courtesy starting the next • meeting. • After all, weekends only come every five days and they are a little hard to give up. Congratulations leaders on another job well done. Cubs Our Cubs are all working very hard trying to earn badges and finish Star requirements, and again this week we presented badges and stars. Jamie Orourke reeved his handyman's badge, Colin Thomas his house orderly badge, and Wayne Dunsmore received his Tawny Star, swimmers, toymakers and carpenters badge. These badges are listed in all the Cub handbooks and we urge the parents to • check the requirements thoroughly and be sure your son has completed these before you send a note asking for the badge. We really hate to • disappoint the boys by not giving themtheir badge, but the proper requirements must be done in order to earn it properly. The • boys in Tawny Star are making working models. Black Star group is making bird houses and feeders and Green Star group is malsipg fireplace logs from newspaper. Keep up the good work boys. Scouts This past Monday night at Scouts, the leaders informed the boys of what they had learned at their training on the weekend. The Grade 6 pupils served hot chocolate to all that needed warming up on such a frosty day! All events for this "Day of the :Month Activity' were supervised by Mr. Nicholls and his grade six pupils. • On Monday, March, aur Junior pupils.went on an outdoor I education field trip to the Goderich area. By the end of the day, most of these energetic youngsters were pretty' well worn out. They were involved in •many outdoor . ac- tivities including orienteering, tracking, captain ball, meal preparation, and woodsmanship. Everyone had a great time. This Friday, March 7, Mr. Hingley will be at the school to take _school, pictures.
