The former Dash- wood resident died in hospital where she had been taken from Seaforth Manor Nursing Home. •BortV==J rh Alsayce- Lorraine in Germany on March 17, 1873 she moved to Dashwood in 1908 With her husband Gottleib, who died in 1922... She is survived by five children -- Edna Weber of Dashwood, Gertrude Musser of. London, Clarence (Jack) of Wingham, Louis of Oshawa and Albert of Regina. There are also 21 grandchildren, 42 great- grandchildren and one . ,great-great-grandchi-ld. Edna Pearl Fulford A long-time Clinton area resident, Edna Pearl Fulford,died' in Clinton hospital on February 24, following a short illness. She was 75 years old. Edna Pearl Edwards was born in McGillavey Township and lived in Clandyb.oye before moving to the Clinton area. She attended the Clinton School of Com- merce and worked for the Clinton Knitting Co. and the T. Eaton Co. In 1922, she was married on William G. Fulford in Stratford and the couple lived in. Clinton, where Mrs. Fulford was a member of St. Paul's Anglican Church. Mrs. Fulford is predeceased by her husband and parents and Sybil-Courtice is survived by one son, Lloyd of Oakville and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held on February 26 at the Ball Funeral Home in Clinton with Rev. James Broadfoot officiating. Interment followed in the Exeter Cemetery. The pallbearers were William Grigg, Ted Fear, Ab Shaddick, Murray Draper, Oscar Priestap and Charles Nelson, all of Clinton. Betty McDonald Betty McDonald of 137 Mary Street in Clinton died in Clinton hospital on February 20 at the age of 79. The former Betty Nesbitt, who had lived in Clinton since 1925, she was born :in-- East -Oxford Township in Oxford County on April 11, 1900. In 1924 'she—was married to Samuel McDonald in Woodstock, and the couple lived in London before moving to Clinton. Mrs. McDonald was a member of the Joseph Street Gospel Hall in Clinton... Mrs. McDonald was. predeceased by her husband and parents and survived by three sons, Douglas of Mississauga, Bruce of Leamington and Glen of Woodstock. She is also survived by one sister, Dorothy of Cambridge and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Ball Funeral Home in Clinton on February 23 with Arnold Gratton officiating. Interment followed in the Clinton Cemetery. The pallbearers were Barry Young, Frank Cummings, Willis Switzer, Gordon Bell, Eric McDonald and Graham Russell. Barb and her husband Raymond Cook live at RR 4, Walton, (News -Record photo) Huronview celebrates birthdays _overseas. He was a member of Victoria Street United. Church and Royal Canadian Legion Branch 109. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Fred (Marlene) Brall of Goderich Township and Joan at home; one sister, Mrs. William (Thelma) Manning of Blyth; and one brother, Edwin. of Goderich. A .funeral service was held at McCallum Funeral Home on Turn to page 15 • Sybil Courtice A native of Clinton and former missionary, Sybil Courtice, died in Huronview on February 16. She was in her 96th year. Miss Courtice is well known by, many people by her family roots in Clinton and by her over 40 years of work as a missionary in Japan. Miss Courtice was born in Clinton in 1884 to the late Edmund George Courtice and Mary Wade. Miss Courtice was a music teacher .in Clinton before she was sent by the Women's Missionary Society of the Ontario Street Methodist Church to Japan in 1910. For the next 40 years, Miss Courtice worked in Japan where she taught the Bible and music in schools. In 1941 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Miss Courtice was interned at a cainp in Toyko and after a year's confinement was able to return to Canada. Until the -end of World War II, Miss Courtice remained in Canada and was sent to Montreal where she worked among the Japanese and Italians. However, at the end of the war, she returned to Japan where she continued her field work until 1950. In 1976 Miss Courtice left Clinton again, for the Albright Manor in Beamsville, a United Chruch of Canada retirement hofne for church workers She later moved to Huronview. Miss Courtice is predeceased by her parents, one brother, Dean and a sister Hattie. She is survived by a niece, Betty Courtice of Dundas and several cousins. Funeral' services were held at the Ball Funeral Home on February 19 and interment followed in the Clinton Cemetery. - Syl� iI '.-ou�rtfs e Lenten series planned ---__. The next evening will be Sunday, March 2 at 8 p.m. and the subject to be discussed - "Drugs - Use and Abuse in Huron County". The speakers will be Const. • Bill..
