speaking chairman,
Garnet Harland, a report
on the success of two of
our CHSS students who
participated in the
Legion's literary contest
district competition.
Judy Carter, a grade 12
student, placed third for
° her poem `,`Service For
The Dead-. Another
grade 12 student,Efic
Street, was ranked
second tor hi -s essay
"Why I Wear A Poppy".
Comrade Harland ex-
tends to these two
students and all the
students in the area who
participated in the
contest his
congratulations on -behalf
of the Braiich President
and members as well as
the District Commander
and his Executive
Officers.
At our Tuesday evening
men's euchre night, the
high score department
changed hands with Don
Armstrong scoring an 86,
while the most lone hands
with six went to Arnold
Crich, and Les Turner
had the. poorest hands
getting the lowest score
with a 47. Thirteen tables
were in action, but if one
more willing player .had
showed up, we'd have had
14.

Auditorium was again a
busy place as the Huron
County Pork' producers
held their annual noon
dirrn-cr meeting. Our
Ladies auxiliary again
came up with an expertly
prepared dinner, poi -k, of
course'. A thank you to
our ladies as well as all
the many men who were

Rau, it, was a productive
meeting and he said that
they'd be back again.
On Thursday evening,
another successful bingo
was held with the
associates team under
team captain Steve Cooke
hosting our bingo en-
thusiasts. The $200 jack-
pot prize last week was
split between Helen
Brooks and Dora T,aylor.
While the bingo_was
flourishing in our
auditorium, mixed darts
was in progress in our
lower lounges. High
couple for the evening
was Rosemary Arm= -
strong and Ches Higdon.
High lady single score of
110 was attained by
Madelon Yeats and Lloyd
Butler with a .125 got the
high men's single score.
Low couple for the
evening was Madelon
Yeats and Helen
Hoggart. Must have been
a shortage of men last
week.
Saturday evening, was
Valentine's Dance in our
auditorium planned by
,our entertainment
committee. Chairman
John Stevely and his
committee had the
auditorium decorated in
the appropriate decor
and the music by the
"Impressions" was in-
deed excellent. Although
only some 30 couples
showed, up, they
thoroughly enjoyed the
evening followed by. a
chili-con-carnie lunch
manufactured by yours
Stolen antiques
found in Clinton
The Exeterr OPP have
laid several charges as a
result of their in-
vestigation into recent
break and enters in the
area.
About half the $11,358
worth of antiques stolen
recently from the
Stephen Township
residence of Phyllis
O'Neal, London, have
been recovered.
Numerous search
warrants were executed
recently in the Exeter,
Huron Park, Crediton
and Clinton area.
Jim G. Daynes,
McGillivray Township
has been charged with
break, enter and theft as
a result of the in-
vestigation and ---two
Clinton women face
charges of possession of
stolen goods. They are
Elizabeth Barrett and
Heather A. Wrona, both
of 225 Mary Street.
Further charges are
pending.
Two Brodhagen
resi,dents, Donald Martin
VanHevel and Peter
Douglas Turner face four
counts each of break,
enter and theft as a result
of police investigation
into breakins at four
Hensall and Zurich
service stations on
January 31.
Almost $1,000 worth of
car radios, tape players,
cash, tools, confections,
cigarettes, lighters and
bubble gum hockey cards
'were taken in the break-
ins at Hensall Motors,
Kyle's Shell and- the
Hensall BP and Ice Box
Variety and Klopp's
Texan in Zurich.
