Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gemmell are holidaying - in the South. The Kippen UCW met in the Church February 12. Rev. McMullen and Mrs. Bert Faber were in charge of. the Devotional. Mr. McMullen read a poem and Scripture while Mrs. Faber chose the theme "There is work to do for gladness" and read Scripture followed by a Hymn. Worship closed with prayer by Mrs. Faber. Mr. McMullen con- ducted the topic in the form of a Bible study. Three study - groups answered questions, to interpret the four Bible verses in today'swords. President Mts. Robert Kinsman opened the business session with a Valentine poem, and roll call was -answered by 13 members on, "What I would like to do". Reports were given on visiting by Mrs. Bill Consitt; sunshine and rose, by Mrs. David Cooper; correspondence by Mrs. Bert Faber; official board and presbytery by Mr. McMullen. Reports showed renovations on the Brucefield • manse well underway. Ladies • are requested to increase their allocation and consider a "Live, love project,, Mrs. Keith Lovell, social functions con..- vener, gave a report on catering and money raising ideas. 'The bake sale was set for July 5 at Homestead, Bayfield, and a plant auction will be . held at the next meeting. Catering prices were established for 1980, and an itemized budget is to be ready at the next meeting. April 8 will be entertainment night with' Rev. Stan MacDonald as guest speaker. The World's Day of Prayer will be held in Brucefield Church March 7 at 2 p.m. A World relief bale will be packed. Irene Turner gave courtesy remarks and the hostesses Mrs. Norrnan Dickert and Mrs. Ed McBride served lunch in the Valentine motif. The local OPP detach- ment said. that three Guelph area men weie remanded and were scheduled to appear in Stratford provincial court on February 15. Police said' there was no use of a weapon, but the case involved robbery and violence. The OPP reported at the three men broke into the Wallace Township home of James Bartja. Mr. Bartja confronted the men and one identified himself as a police of- ficer, went to the telephone and "ripped" the receiver off the hook.
