comments and recom-

in the area by the end of
1980.
"Vandalism costs
Canadians millions of
dollars a year. I hope we
can do something to stop
it. If only small children
are doing it, it may be

Mayor Harold - Lobb told

-1- -i-. -i-
A suggestion was made
by one council committee-
that parking meters be
installed in the new
parking lot situated
behind: the Clinton library
and town hall. - -
However Mayor Lobb
said, "If parking there
gets out of control wecan
put them in, but I don't -
want to see therruthere if
it can be helped." , -
x Council did, . however,
agree to install a parking
meter at the corner
Huron Street, by the
Triangle, Discount Store.
Council learned that a
delivery truck parks in
that -spot several, times a
week while dropping off
goods and they didn't like -
the idea of having
someone park in that spot
for free.
Mayor LOH also aai d
that the parking bylawbe
studied to see if there is
any. law against parking
in spots at the 'Clinton
arena that are designated - -
fo-r police and am-
bulances. Mayor Lobb
said that people parking
there say they can't -,be ---
ticketed because there is
no rule designating these
areas in the bylaw..
Mayor Lobb said that the'
bylaw should include
these parking °spots to be
Set aside for emergency
purposes.

'Council will be looking
into the question of who
pays for fire calls. The
group was surprised to
learn that bills of $70 are
sent out to those who have
called 'for assistance '
from the, -Clinton Fire
Department. -
"I thought that when
you're paying taxes
you're paying for fire
protection," Reeve
Macaulay said.
• Clerk Proctor ex-
plained, "Some
businesses rather pay $70
for a fire than $1,000's a
year for protection that
may never be needed.
This is used -in cities, but
it's an idea that's ahead
of its time in Clinton." ,
Councillor George
Rumball suggested that
businesses whose alarm .
systems are faulty or
haven't been repaired
should be charged.
Deputy Reeve Ernie
Brown said, "Either
everyone should"pay, or
no one should pay."
Mayor- Lobb told
