UCW meets
"Our Christian Task"
was the worship theme
for • Thursday's UCW
meeting with Helen
Taylor, Marjorie Stirling,
Linda Postill-and Debra
Stephenson in charge.
Marjorie gave a chapter
from the study book
"What it is Like to be a
Japanese Christian" as
related by Rev. Ron
Wallace, whose family
spent eight years in.
Japan. '
They felt that Japanese
Christians must
frequently find them-
selves in a difficult
position in relation to the
practices and customs
which are a vital part of
Japanese family life,
usually based on the
Buddhist and Shinto
religions. The religious
practices of the Wallace
family were treated with
respect, even by 'their
son's teacher.
The World • Day of
Prayer service will be
held at Goshen ' church
this year on- Thursday
evening, March 6. Rev.'
Brown would like_.to.have.
some local women attend
a conference,. for United
Church Women during
the weekend of June 20 to
22 at the' University of
Waterloo. The Ontario
Council has arranged for
people . like Katherine
Hockin and Jessie
McLeod to lead the
sessions at this con-
ference, so -'it should be a
very rewarding ex-
perience. Plans are being
made for the Pancake
Supper on Shrove
Tuesday as advertised in
Coming Events.

Ruth and Murdock
Morrison returned on
Saturday from a two-
week holiday in Florida.
They took the circle tour
with Hanover Holiday
Tours. The weather Was
nice and sunny but cool.
One of the highlights of
the trip was a visit with a
cousin and his wife, who
carne over to Sarasota
from Gulfport to spend
their free day with them.
They had lots of catching
up to do, as they hadn':t
been together for 30
years.
Clinton 1, 4-H
Clinton 1 held their first

out the books and talked
about the requirements
for our project manual.
We talked about the'
history of macrame and
what we need to bring to
the. next meeting, which
will be held .at Karen and
Sharon Dale's. Cookies
and refreshments were
served at the close of the
meeting.—by Angela
