La Lechers year
La Leche League of
Belgrave began its first-
series of the new year
with the number of little
ones greater than the
number of mothers at-
tending the meeting.
Mrs. T. Korstanje
welcomed the mothers to
her home and explained
that she would be hostess
for .the next three
-meetings.
Mrs:\J. Casemore was
introduced as the new
librarian' for the ELL
group. The new books will
be using a card system.
La Leche (pronounced
lay-chay) -comes from the
Span -is- i • language and
means plentiful milk.
This name was suggested
for the League -by Dr.
White in 1957, the
husband of ,W'in. of the
founding mothers.
The- .;League enjoys
giving info•rrriation and
encouragement on the art
of breastfeeding.
Mrs. B. Kerr led the
discussion covering,
"Benefits of Breast-
feeding to Mother and
Baby".
Many mothers were
pleased to hear that
babies need no sup-
plements while nursing
for the first few months.
This makes nursing so
easy to dQ-._in., a busy
household,
I was meted that
"cow's milk - is for
calves" ` —and the
recommendations of the
Cana..dian Pediatric
Society were ' taken into
consideration.
the mothers were
happy to -explain . the.
—great joy in mining "their
babies and the close
bonds formed within the
family.
The meeting closed
with refreshments and a•
social hour.
Our mistake
An error was made in
last week's report on the
Auxiliary to the Clinton
Public Hospital. The
.Trillium senior eitizens
Club donated $100 to the
auxiliary and the
Christian Reformed
Church in Clinton
donated .$300.
As well, the Auxiliary
has set aside over $2,000
to pay for a portable
defibrillator, not $200 as
was reported in last
week's News -Record.
The News -Record
apologizes_ for these
errors and hoped they
caused little' in
convenience.
