Several cars, were broken into -and tape decks, speakers and: gas 'were stolen. Aerials and mirrors were broken off two parked cars, gas ` was syphoned out of a truck, a tape deck was stolen from one vehicle, a stereo speaker was taken frons one vehicle and a tape deck and booster was - taken from another. ' - `police are still in- vestigating the incidents. The Goderich OPP reported that slippery and slushy roads resulted in several accidents over the past week. - On January 10, a car driven by Catherine —Fullerton, 22, -of-Paisley - received $1,000 Jin damages after the car . she was driving on a -Goderich Township road slid in slush, wentirito the ditch and rolled.. Homestead burns KINCARDINE - Damage has been estimated at $43,000 in a blaze that gutted the • 85 -year-old stone house of Aurel and Marjorie Armst.'ong, of RR 4, Kincardine. The home, which was built in 1894 from stones picked off of the land, burned to the ground following strike by lightning in a January 9 storm that battered, the area. The Armstrongs and . their on Brent were able to escape the blaze unharmed. Mr. Arm- strong said, "The ceiling came in the room next W us. There was window glass all over the hall. It was unreal, quite a way to wake up." The ' Kincardine Fire Department was called to the scene at 6:35 am and relieved the Ripley Fire Department ' who had been fighting the blaze. The Kincardine fire team ' remained at the home until 4 pm and battled the blaze through high winds, driving snow and bitter cold. The January 6 accident occurred after the Sin- clair vehcite, travelling northbound- on the road and the Rose vehicle, backing out of a private driveway collided.
