Our week started with
yet another banquet
served by our ever hard
wdl'king Ladies Auxiliary
to the . Huronview
housekeeping staff, who
held their Christmas
party in the Ladies
Lounge of our branch. It
was a happy evening for
the group as they finished
oft thea evening with
games and cards.
Tuesday, our
customary men's euchre
was played with 14 tables
' in action. Winning the
high score for the evening
was Don Berry with an 89
score. Low score was
accomplished by Don
Howes with a 53 score and
Bill Jenkins came up with
a score of five to win the
lone hand department.
Wednesday our
auditorium was aglow
with our Clinton and area
senior citizens as they
gathered for a Christmas
banquet. Our Ladies
Auxiliary' were again in
the forefront with yet
another excellent
banquet. The senior
citizens enjoyed an
evening of entertainment
and games of cards.
Our Thursday evening
Bingo was again active
with Ed Porter and his
RR5 team hosting the
bingo players,- Judy
Dykstra was the lucky
lady who went home with
the $200 jackpot prize.
Mixed darts were also in
action in our lower
lounges with Brenda
Atkinson winning the
high ladies' prize and
Ches Higdon the high
men's prize. High
couple's prize went to
Rosemary Armstrong
and" Terry Hollinshead
after a hotly contested
playoff against ". Millie
Hanley andChes Higdon.
The weekend was a
hectic one for our staff
and volunteers. TGIF
was again active in our
lower lounges on Friday
evening with Comrade
Sam Castle displaying his
"Chef" ability by coming
Auburn
Lions news
The annual Ladies'
Night was held recently
by the Auburn and
District Lions Club in the
Auburn Community
Memorial Hall. The
Women's Institute
catered to the turkey
dinner.
President, Lion Bill
Robertson was in charge
and had the new mem-
bers introduce their
wives.
The minutes were
approved as read by the
secretary, Lion Bob
Worsell.
Plans were finalized for
the New Year's Eve
dance and pork barbecue.
The . Children's
Christmas party date was
set for December 19.
The weekend of
January 26 and 27 was set
for the Sno-Fest. Plans
include a snowmobile
Poker Rally, cross-
; country skiing, sleigh
rides, snowshoe races,
pancake breakfast and
dance.
The • guest speaker of
the evening was Mr. Jens
Anderson from Ontario
Hydro.

Up with a tasty turkey

amazing that our TGIF is
now flourishing better
than ever. Our thanks to
our attackers for its
success.
While TGIF was `active
in our lower lounges, the
Town of Clinton was
holding its annual
Christmas banquet and
dance in our auditorium.
Our Ladies Auxiliary,
augmented by some of
our faithful men, again
excelled with an expertly
prepared and served
dinner for our guests • My
thanks to Milt Schrieber
who acted as the cocktail
and wine host, as well as
Diane and Steve Maguire
who took care of the
bartending duties for our
guests. \
Saturday evening saw
another banquet and
dance, this one for our
Clinton Hospital staff
Christmas party. Our
Ladies Auxiliary again
carne up with another
winner. Following the
dinner the guests were
treated to an hour of
entertainment with talent
from the staff as well as
the doctors. "
All in alt another
successful week . at the
Legion thanks to the
continued dedication of
our Ladies Auxiliary and
the willing hands of our
men. May I express to all
our readers of the weekly
effort, a Christmas filled
with Christ's message
"peace on earth, good
will to men". A hope for
all that we will meet
again.
