The children went swimming and after a pdt luck supper, they wat- toion.ess gather ched an hour long movie.\ Then Santa made his appearance "and gave each child a stocking -filled with candies and games. It was a fun af- ternoon for all. The Vanastra Lion4 held the draw for the turkeys on Saturday Dec. 15, Mr. Steve Sager of Vanastra won the 25 lb, turkey, Mr. Gaston Bernard won the 20 ib. turkey and Mrs. Vie Quarrie or Kippen won the glass turkey. Congratulations to these people. The proceeds from the draw will go towards the four youth groups that the Club sponsors. Sharon 's recipe corner Gather seeds in the fall from your choice flowers, and enclose them in your Christm4s greeting cards. Divide the seeds into little waxed paper wrappers., label and seal them, with tiny flower seeds. Make a special Christmas tree for those in a nursing home. Cut a piece of bright green felt into the shape of a tree and glue it to a sheet of cardboard. Decorate with glitter, 4equins, beads and old costume jewellery, and attach a loop for hanging. Let each child pick out one new ornament for the tree each Christmas and put their names on it. When they leave home, they'll have a treasured collection for their own trees. • ' Wrap 'small, pieces of fruitcake in 'transparent, coloured tissue paper or kitchen cellophane and tie with coloured yarn or ribbon. Peanut Brittle 2 cups granulated sugar , 1 cup corn syrup 1 tsp. baking soda 1 cup water 2 cups salted peanuts 1 tbsp. butter Cook until 238 degrees. Have peanuts ready and stir constantly. Cook until 290 degrees. Remove from heat and add soda and butter. Beat hard until light and foamy. Pour into shallow pans and leave until cool. Break into small pieces. Keep in a plastic bag. This cannotbe made without a candy ther- mometer. Cream Cheese Fudge 4 oz. cream cheese 21/2 cups icing sugar 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1,4 tsp. salt 1/2 cup choppea nuts Crearn.,the cheese. Add sugar. Melt chocolate and add it to other ingredients to the cream cheese and sugar mixture. Press into a -buttered pan. Mints 1 egg white (beaten) 2 tbsp. water 4 drops oil of peppermint 1 lb. icing sugar Divide into three parts. Tint one pink, one green, and leave the other white. Roll out on icing sugared board to the size of a pen,cil. Snip off with scissors to desired size.
