task of preparing ana
serving the dinner for the
ladies. Thanks to the
many men who showed
up to lend a helping hand,
the ladies were well
pleased with the food and
the service.
A highlight of the
evening took place when
George Campbell was
called upon by the
president Annie Sallows
to present two . of the
ladies with life mem-
bership pins and .cards,
Comrades Mabel
Schrieber and Fran
Porter between them
represented over 50 years
of service to the
Auxiliary.
Following . the dinner,
the ladies enjoyed an
evening of games, cards
and .a penny sale, while
the men continued with
the cleanup details in the
kitchen. Ourappreciative
thanks to the ,Ladies
Auxiliary for another
year of dedication
towards the Branch.
Our Tuesday evening
men's euchre a was again a
success with 14 tables in
action. Eric Schellen-
berger this time in-
creased his average by
getting 89 points out of a
possible 90. Joe Corey has
takemover a monopoly on
the low score with a 53
once more, while the -lone
hand department went to
Bill Jenkins with five.
On Wednesday, bur
auditorium was buzzing
with activity as the
McKersie -Millan . Com-
pany held a display
evening. Some 40
exhibitors took part in the
display while well over
200 - people toured the
exhibits.
Thursday evening,
another bingo took place
in our• auditorium with
some 65 bingo players in
attendance. Winning the
jackpot of $200 was Vera
Colclough and Maud
* Weston, who split the •
If winnings. Also on
Thursday evening our
Jr Ladies Lounge was busy
* as the Ladies Auxiliary
*. was again active catering
to the Huronview night
shift staff Christmas
party.
It was a rush evening
as one end of the Ladies
Lounge had to be cleared
to accommodate the
mixed dart session,
which followed the ser-
ving of the banquet. The
team of Millie Hanley
and Art Riesely teamed
up- to win the ,pairs
competition. High lady
was Rosemary Arm-
strong with a 123, while
Terry Hollinshead was
the high man with a 100
score
Friday saw another
double header with TGIF
taking place in the men's
lounge where they were
treated to a beef stew
lunch by Bill Cox. It was
very good, as .we had no
leftovers. While TGIF
was taking place in the
men's lounge. Our bingo
workers party was taking
place in our Ladies
Lounge, a good
representation was . on
hand to enjoy an evening
of cards and singing. The
evening was capped off
with a hip -of -beef lunch
which pleased all
present.
Saturday evening was
the night for Ex -Cell -0
Corporation (Wildex)
who held their annual
Christmas banquet and
dance in our auditorium.
Our Ladies Auxiliary was
again at their best with a
tasty ham dinner.
