Wingham hospital
gets more money
WINGHAM Additional
funding of nearly $46,000,
received from " the
ministry of health, has
brought Wingham and
District Hospital 'closer to
balancing its- budget this
year.
Earlier this year at the
time the board vetoed to
close 14 beds and lay off
12 members of the
hospital staff, the
hospital was predicting a
shortfall of about $50,000
at year end. However, the
financial report
presented to the board
recently showed the
deficit is already being
whittled down.
The additional funding
came after two meetings
with ministry officials.
They were very im-
pressed with the
operation of the hospital
and made excellent
reports to the ,ministry,
hospital director Norman.
Hayes said.

represent 1.5 per cent of
the net ministry liability

the maximum the official
was allowed to give

mittee for review.
The hospital hopes to
get an additional $10,500
and is requesting the
ministry to give the extra
funding.
Mr. Hayes explained
that the extra money
came about as a result of
several factors. The
hospital has now cut its
beds to the provincial
guideline, it has proven
its efficiency and it was.
