Kippen WI By - Rena Caldwell Kippen East Women's Institute entertained their families to a turkey banquet on Nov. 30 in Hensall United Church. After supper, the President Mrs. Triebner welcomed everyone and gave a reading. Mrs. Drummond also favoured. with a humorous reading. Prize winners during the. evening were: Mary Jane Parsons and Laurie Chalmers as the youngest guests present; Al Hoggarth's family, the largest family present; Mrs. Charles Eyre having the youngest grandchild; Mr. and Mrs. Campbell Eyre the longest married couple, 46 years; Vern Alderdice got the lucky chair prize; Bill Kinsman and Greg Hoggarth for good sportsmanship. Winners at the euchre , were: ladies' high, Mrs. Stewart Pepper; ladies' second, Mrs. Vern Alderdice; ladies' low, Mrs. Robert Kinsman; men's high, Robert Bell; men's second, Ernest Whitehouse; men's low, Garry Alderdice; lone hands for ladies, Agnes Eyre, for the men, Bob Bell. Mr. and Mrs. Alex D. McGregor left for Florida on Saturday last. A number of Kippen ladies, Mrs. W.L. Mellis, Mrs. R. Broadfoot, Mrs. Emerson Kyle, Mrs..R,E. Robinson attended. the bazaar in Brucefield last Saturday: Mr. and Mrs. Herb Jones and. Mrs. Pearl Love° attended an early Christmas- celebration" last Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Jones. Bayfielder wins gold A Bayfield man took home two ounces of gold worth $1,000, and minor sports in Clinton be richer by over $3;000, thanks to the Clinton Kinsmen's Gold Fever night, last Friday night. John McIntyre of the Sugar Bush Inn of Bayfield was the big winner of the two, one- ounce wafers of gold which are increasing in value every day, while the $3,000 profit ,realized by the Kinsmen was the biggest ever. Twenty other poeple were also winners of $25 each and include Frank Kanters, Carol Finch, Tom Burley, Ron McKay,_ Bud —Baker, Eric Schellenberger, Don Hoytema, Karen Dill, Dan Alce, Ken Hesselwood, Judy Dykstra, Brian Mustard, Pete Colyer, Wilf Denomme, Ernest Brown, Earl Hilderley, Ed Harrison, Doug McAsh, Bill Thompson, and Carol. Bowker. Chimney fire in Varna home By• Mary Chessell Dave and Bonnie Roy had an ..anxious few minutes on Sunday morning when they had a fire in the pipes over the Franklin fireplace. By removing the wood from the stove and cutting off all air they had it under control before the fire trucks arrived. Dave spoke highly of the fire department from Brucefield which arrived very quickly and stayed until they were sure there was no fire in the wall. Lori Consitt is Making excellent progress in figure skating, and passed her Willow Dance for her Junior Bronze medal in Stratford a week ago Sunday. Doug Roy passed his intermediate led Cross tests in swimming recently, and his sister Laura passed her Junior' tests. Little Dennis alsd passed Beginners T.
