Last Friday night the Wingham Ironmen were in town and handed the Mustangs a 5-3 defeat, The 1VIustangs opened the scoring on a goal by Steve Arbour and the Ironmen tied it up with six seconds remaining in the period. The second period belonged to Wingham as they scored three unanswered goals to take a 4-1 lead into the third period. The Ironmen opened the scoring in the, third period, but the Stangs managed to score twice, late in the period to end the game 5-3. Dave Stephenson and Phil Arthur tallied for the Stangs. Last Sunday, the Mustangs suffered their worst beating of the season. The Port Elgin Bears handed the Stangs a 10-1 shellacking. Ironically, the Mustangs scored first in the contest on a goal by Phil Arthur Skating Club plans carnival On November 14, the Clinton Figure Skating Club Executive met in the community centre and came up with a decision to have a Carnival on March 7, 1980. Mrs. Donna Wood was elected as Carnival Chairman. On Sunday, November 25, Lori Consitt passed her Willow Waltz at a test day in Stratford. The lower test skaters were tested on Saturday, December 1 and the _following passed from stroking to elementary: Julie Martin, Nancy Alilov;c, Randy Szusz and Rodney Szusz. Marg Dupee travelled to Hamilton on the weekend of November 29'1. to December 2 to compete in the Hamilton Stoney Creek Invitational Competition. We are very pleased Marg brought home a Gold medal in the Novice Ladies category. Congratulations Marg! early in the first period. Port Elgin stormed ch with three goals in he opening period and then salted the game away with five 3ore in the second and a pair of goals in the third. The Mustangs remain tied for fourth place along with Kincardine and Hanover. with ten points each. The Mustangs have a chance of moving ahead of these teams this weekend when they play host to Hanover on Friday night at 8:30 and then they host Kincardine on Sunday at 7 p.m. The Stangs need a pair of weekend victories if they wish to remain in con- tention for a playoff berth, with the top three teams having the home ice advantage. 4 sports Saturday's snowfall was enough to inspire Jamie Gibbings, 9 and Brian Beattie, 9 into an early round of hockey. The boys spent the most part of the af- ternoon brushing up on their hockeys skills in an active match in the Beattie driveway. Thid' is the popular "Earraer,:s Open" spiel, and it's not too late to enter. At the time of writing two teams were still needed for the late draw. These are just a few of the comments from Seaforth curlers who spent all or part of last weekend on the bonspiel circuit. Sarnia, Ilderton and Harriston were the host clubs and, although no one came home as winners, all seem to agree on one thing - Bonspieling is great, a Mixture of outstanding sociability and keen competition. The foursome was completed with Bob Wilson vice; Bob Ste. Marie, second; and Bill Fleming, lead. Ann Cunningham and her ladies rink of Millie Lobb, Wendy Tremeer and Marg Fleming, travelled to Ilderton for three 8 -end games at the Medway Creamery Bonspiel. Each lady received 21/2 dozen eggs and 1 lb. of butter for their efforts That"s 10 dozen eggs!!! I hope whoever drove home didn't have to make any sudden stops. Thirty-two teams competed in Harriston for the Cash Spiel, Froin Seaforth, Bill Campbell backed up by John Patterson, Neil Doltnage and Mike Thorns, inade it through to Saturday night (Or should I day 2 a.ht Sunday morning!) after OittYirtig four games, the der* Wiiiter with bon Verne& tailed somewhat better making it through to the quarter finals before being knocked out of com- petition on Suri -day. The other half of their team varied from game to game with Bob Jarmuth, Des Cassidy and Gerry Lobb making up the team. Thanks to Roxanne Btown, Laura Anstett and Gail King, who did such a great job, everyone is looking forward to the next fun day. • We are now cofning into our last week (or so) of curling. The Mixed Draw Committee is already planning the New Year's draw, scheduled to start January 2nd and 3rd (Wednesday & Thur- sday). Any member who did not curl in this draw but plans to do so after Christmas or anyone wishing to change their day or time for Mixed Curling, should call Dave Beattie at 482-7357 so that the committee can arrange the draw ac- cordingly. A poster will be up at the club this week for all current curlers to sign-up for the next draw. Please look out for it and help your committee by signing up promptly. Men's Intertown The Clinton Hotel team are in first with 61 points, while Mike's I from Stratford and the -Bowl-Mors are tied in second place with 54 points. The Clinton Crown Lanes team are third with 52. St. Marys have 44. points and Lucan I have 36. Clinton Fleming Flyers have 26 and Mike's III from Stratford and Lucan II are tied with 25 points each. Mike's II from Straford have 24 the Seaforth ' team have 20 and the Zurich team are in last place with 11 points. Mark Stumpf of Mike's' I had the high single of 359 and the high average of 242.9. The high five went to Jeff Park of Lucan II with 1312. Tuesday Afternoon The Five Pins are in first place with 601/2 points, while the Calico Cutters and Boyes' Boucles are second with 59 points each. Duddy's Denims have 55, Gwen's Ginghams and Nora's Notions have 53, a Touch of Velvet have 501/2 and Chessell's Cutups are last with 50 points. Rose' Hummel had the high single of 285.
