still ntit too late to join in

if you are interested just
call Bill Marsh or the

formation.

was again a busy evening
with bingo inour
auditorium and mixed
c carts in our lower
lounges. :n . Our bingo team
g g
of associate members
were on hand to take care
of the needs of our bingo
guests. Winning the jack-
pot of $200 was Evelyn
Graham, a visitor from
the Chatham area. Bingo
chairman Eric Switzer
urges all bingo en-
thusiasts to participate in
our now much improved
bingo operation, and at
the same time support
your branch activities.
On Friday evening,
while our customary
TGIF was taking place in
our lower lounges, our
auditorium was also
active with the Blue
Water Shrine Club, who
were hosting their ladies
to a banquet and dance.
Winning the TGIF raffle
prize was Harold
McPherson and the at-
tendance .draw went to
another member, John
s are well used
An.stett.
It was indeed a colorful
scene in our auditorium
as the Shriners made
their appearance in
cotorful headdress,
escorting their ladies in a
night dedicated to them
in recognition of the
support role the ladies
play in the goal of the
Shrine members. Our
Ladies Auxiliary again
did a commendable job of
catering to the dinner and
again our men were on
the job in the dishwashing
department.
Our thanks to cocktail
and wine host, Milt
Schrieber, for his time
and talent, and to Steve
and Diane Maguire and
Gord and Karen Tait for
taking care of the bar
tasks for the evening. My
thanks also to Comrade
Ron Gonie for helping out
with the Custodian Duties
throughout the week.
This past Monday
evening, our branch
attended the zone service
Farmers study erosion
BRUSSELS - The
Belgrave Creek, one of
thr few remaining trout
streams in the Maitland
River, is being used to
show farmers some
methods of soil erosion
control.
The Maitland 'Valley
Conservation Authority
(MVCA) is using the
creek as a demonstration
project for farmers by
correcting the . erosion
along the creek .used by
livestock tram ling and
vegetation removal.
Two landowners along
the creek are working
with the MCVA to solve
the erosion problems.
Since the farmers are
helping with the project
the costs for the work are
to be divided up, 85 per
cent to the the MVCA and
15 per cent to the lan-
downPr
ze_,.
