significance w .0 very
inspiring and realistic.
It was interesting to
learn that St. Paul's
Cathedral, designed by
Sir Christopher Wren, the
cornerstone of which was
laid in 1669, was not
completed for over 50
years. General Dwight
Eisenhower had given the
Cathedral a list of the
38,000 American soldiers
who had lost their lives in
the Second World War,
and one page of this book
is turned daily.
She praised the British
people for the care given
to alt military
cemeteries, and said that
wooden crosses have now
been replaced by stone
monuments. She also told
the meaning of the pic-
tures contained in the
many beautiful stained
glass windows, and told
of the famous -sculpturing
in the Coventry Cathedral
which though destroyed
in wartime had since
been re -built. Her three
week's tour was told in a
very fluent and in
manner, and
as much appreciated by
II present.
