The cross stitch and the
bargello stitch were the
topics at the third
meeting of the Auburn 2,
4-H, club. The meeting
Lions hold dinner meeting
The Auburn and
District Lions Club met
last Wednesday evening.
The meeting began with a
dinner served by the
Auburn Women's
Institute. Fifteen
members and five guests
were present. The
president, Lion Bill
Robertson, was incharge
of. the meeting and the
secretary's report was
accepted on motion of
Lion Bud Chamney and
seconded by Lion Bill
Crawford.
The guest speaker was
Maitland and the 16th
Community Club meet
by Milena Lobb
Community Club
Edith Tebbutt was
hostess for the monthly
meeting for the Com-
munity Club, held the
evening of September 5.
President Madeline
'Bartlett opened the
meeting with the Hints
for the Month of Sep-
tember, followed by the
repeating of the Creeds
and the Lord's Prayer.
Thirteen members an-
swered Roll Call with the
most impressive thing
they saw or did this
summer.
The minutes of the June
meeting which was held
at Marilyn Forbes' home
were read. The members
decided to donate $10 to
the CNIB and to put two
items in the Hospital
Penny Sale. A bus trip
was discussed and two
members were left in
charge of inquiring about
arrangements. Madeline
Bartlett will have the
October meeting in her
home in the afternoon on
October 10 which is one
week later than usual.
The quilt started at
Edith's willbe worked on.
The meeting was closed
and Norene Tebbutt
assisted Edith serving
lunch.
At school
Now that school has
started again, it is time to
report who is attending
university or . college.
Rick Forbes has returned
to Centralia College;
Sylvia Forbes is at
Lambton College, Sarnia,
taking Early Childhood
Education; George
Thompson is taking his
final year at Guelph.

continuing her studies at
Western University in
London; Jamie Thom-
pson has returned from'
Australia to continue his
veterinary course at
Guelph; Marion
Thompson is at
University of Toronto;
Pete°Thompson is in his
second year at Guelph.
Kerry Johnson has
returned to Guelph and
Ernie Lobb is at Fan-
shawe College for two
months as part of his
apprenticeship in
mechanics.

Brenda Forbes has
received a prornotion to
Supervisor of Pricing for
CP and will be doing a lot
of travelling but her
home base is Torcinto.
Don Lobb and Bill Lobb
have taken a couple of
days off and travelled to
the Farm Show ' near
Indianapolis, Indiana.
Doug and Gertrude
Feagan took a tour
through the north to Sioux
Lookout where they were
met by Jean Feagan who
had a few days off from

In the business, a
donation of $100 was
voted to go to the
Woodstock Disaster
Relief Fund and $50 was
donated to the Blyth
Figure Skating Club on
motion of Lion Bud
Chamney and Lion Bill
Crawford.
Future projects include
improvements to the
Auburn ball. diamond.

pledge said by the
president, Annette
Losereit.
The roll call question
was to name a colour
scheme for a free choice
article. The members
were then taught the two
stitches, the bargello and
the cross stitch. The
transferring of ` a design
onto canvas was also
explained. .
For the next meeting,
the members are to
complete their stitches
and think of one idea for
Achievement Day.
The meeting was then
closed with the 4-H grace.
