Harold Jantzi and Don Harris received the of- fering and the theme of the sermon was The Kingdom of God and Children. During the service )Marty and Hugh Lobb sang a duet. In other church news, the London Confererfce of the United Church of Canada has set up a fund to aid those who suffered from the recent tornado. The month of September has been designated as the time to be involved in this need and anyone wishing to help in the fund is to place their donation in an envelope, marked Tornado, and .place it on the offering plate' at church. If a receipt is wished, include your name, on the en- velope. At the end of the month, the money raised will be. forwarded. On September 1.6 at 12:30 pm, the congregational dinner will be held after the 9:45 am church service and Sunday School.. The entire congregation is invited to remain to attend this centennial event and while the ladies will prepare the meal after the service, each family is asked to bring salads, pies or tarts. There will be games and activities for the children and young ;people: The church's an- niversary service will be held on October 7 at 2 pm. It will take the form of an Old Tyme Service as a conclusion to the cen- tennial events. For the special service, .Rev. Doug Toss, president of the London Conference will be guest speaker. The church's cen- tennial booklet will go on sale at this time. Goderich Twp. peewees win The Goderich Township pee wee boys baseball team won the league championship last Friday night when they defeated Hullett Township in two games straight. A hard-working team, combined with the ex- cellent coaching of Bili Harris and. Daryl Abbott are credited with being the reasons for the win, as the boys won 11 games and only lost one all season. The ball season is now over in the township and• so the end of the year wiener roast is planned for this Friday night at 7 pm at the school ball diamond for all boys Who signed up. At that time, the free colored team pictures will be distributed to each player. The team organizers would like to thank all the coaches, umpires, and parents for the co- operation this year to ' make it one of the best $pasons ever. Rti
