Morrison 'of Varna and
Linda Diane Smith of RR
5, Seaforth.
The groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Murdock
Morrison of Varna and
the bride is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. William
V. Smith, of RR 5,
Seaforth.
Rev, Bryant .Smith
officiated at the double
ring ceremony. Organist
was Pearl Henderson and
the soloists, were Donna,
Darlene and • Debbie
Henderson.
The ` bride wore a long
white gown with short
cap sleeves, a long train
and a finger-tip veil with
Juliet headpiece. She
carried a bouquet of blue
and white silk roses'.
Maid of honor was
Sandra Hulley of RR 1,
Seaforth. She wore a long
light . blue gown with a
jacket that tied in front.

Father Hardy held
Roman Catholic Mass on
Friday morning recently
while in the afternoon,
the residents - played
bingo in the auditorium.
The Huronview Choir
held -" their .. 'practice on
Saturday morning. The
hymn the Choir sang on
Sunday morning was
"Lord Keep your. Hand on
me." Rev. Wittick spoke
on the topic that as
Christians, we should
never give up hope. Mrs.
Wittick sang a solo "How
Great Thou Art". The
-Church members prayed
for Mrs. M. Martin who
was in theinfirmary.
The Special Care
barbecue was cancelled .,.
last week because of cool
weather and will be held
at a later date.
On Wednesday af-
ternoon, 24 residents
went to Grand Bend to the
Huron Country
Playhouse and saw "The
Sound of Music" which
was enjoyed by all. '
Plans are . well un-
derway for our Fashion
Show Wednesday af-
ternoon. Modelling of
wedding gowns will be
done by staff.

into the church by Brad
Smith, John Gilliland and'
Robert Morrison.
Following the wedding,
a reception was held in
the Clinton Legion Hall
which was decorated with
blue and white streamers
and bells for the oc-
casion.
The bride's, mother
wore a floor length spicy
rose gown. The groom's
mother chose a floor
length light blue and
' white gown.
Guests were present
from Elliot. Lake, Sud-
bury and Blenheim.
Following a wedding
trip to Northern Ontario,
Mr. and Mrs. Morrison
took up residence in
Seaforth.
Prior to her marriage,
the bride was feted at
showers given by Pearl
Henderson, Sandra
Hulley, Mavis Morrison,
and. Wonette Taylor.
in Clinton on October 10,
1908 to Vesta Streets. She
lived in Clinton all her life
and attended Clinton
Public and Clinton high
school. Miss. Streets
worked as a clerk for the
Department of National
Defense at CFB Clinton
until it closed.
Miss Streets is survived
by two sisters, Miss
Norma Streets of Clinton
and Mrs. Cora (Raye)
Paterson of Hensall.
Funeral and committal
services were held at the
,Ball Funeral Home in
Clinton on September 1
with Rev. Norman Pick
officiating. Interment
followed in the Clinton
Cemetery.
John Watson
John Watson, a Stanley
Township native and area
farmer fOr many years,
died in Clinton hospital on
August 28. He was 78
years old..
Mr. Watson was born in
Stanley on June 28, 1901 to
John Watson and the
former Sarah Manns. He
attended school at SS 4,
Stanley and later made
his living as a farmer.
In 1931, Mr. Watson was
married to Muriel
Stirling in Bayfield. After
'her death,' he remarried
in 1950 to Mary Stirling in
Holmesville.
Mr. Watson moved to
Goderich Township in
1934 where he farmed
until 1965. At that time he
moved to Goderich and in
I971 moved to Clinton
where he resided on
Victoria Terrace. Mr.
Watson was a member of
the Wesley Willis United
Church and the Masonic
Lodge.
ivIr. Watson was
predeceased by his
parents and wives. He is
survived by two children.,
Barbara Schuck of
Mitchell and Robert of
Ayton. Also surviving are
five grandchildren and
two sisters, Bessie'
Gillard of RR 4, St.
Thomas and Nell Cleave
of the Bluewater Nursing
Home in Zurich.

in charge of funeral
t ,services held on August
31 at the Ball Funeral
Bore in Clinton.
Interment followed in the:
Clinton cemetery.
The pallbearers were:

Bayfield; Les Riley,
Goderich; Gerry .Ginn,
RR 2, Clinton; Ben
Whitely, RR 2, Goderich;
Claude Sinclair, RR 2,
Clinton and John West-
brook of RR 2, Clinton.

Dundas; John Campbell,
RR 3, Bayfield; George
Martyn, RR 1, Sparta and
Dave Dewar of Don Mills.

Dorothy Streets` died a.
Huronview on August 30.
She was 70 years old,
Miss Streets was born
HAROLD GUY IVES
Mr. Harold Guy Ives, of
Colborne Township died
on August 21, 1979 at the
age of 72.
He was born on August
27, 1906 in Leamington to
Hugh and Elizabeth
Young.
He moved to the
Goderich area in 1945.
He was a contractor.
He served in Africa,
Sicily and Italy during
the Second World War, as
a private with the
R.C.A.S.C. He enlisted in
London in 1940 and was
discharged in London in
1945.
He was a member of
Royal Canadian Legion,
Branch 140, Clinton.
On October 10, 1928 he
married Olive Fox in
Windsor.
He was an adherent of
the Baptist Church.
_;He is survived by his
children, Donald Ives,
R.R.2' Blyth, Shirley
(Mrs. Kenneth Staples),
Port Colborne, Laverne
(Mrs. David Colclough),
Clinton, and George Ives,
Blyth; also survived by
three sisters, Mrs. Lila
Turnbull, Windsor, Mrs.
Georgina McHardy,
Leamington, Mrs.
Marjory Miller, London;
one brother, Glen,
Aylmer ;-his mother, Mrs.
Elizabeth Rynal,
Leamington; also 23
grandchildren and 9
great grandchildren. He
was predeceased by two
daughters and .three
grandsons.

Two penpals meet
after 44 years
Former cancer suf-
ferer Helen Bisback's one
wish was to see her
English pen -friend.
It came true on August
31 when�irs Bisback,
Clinton, was met at
Derby Station by her pen
pal'of 44 years, Mrs.
Sylvia Eyre, of 15
Stirland Street, Codnor,
Derbyshire, England.
"It was very emotional,
but we knew each other
so well after writing for
all these years that it was
like meeting a Sister,"
said Mrs. Eyre.
Mrs. Eyre, now a
grandmother, was only 11
when her Sunday School
arranged for her t,p write.
to a Canadian girl.
The pals, lost contact
during the war, but the
friendship was revived
when Mrs. Eyre received
a letter in her maiden
name of James.
Mrs. Bisback had
cancer in 1970, but is now
perfectly well. "It was
her one hope that she
would live long enough to
see me," explained Mrs.
Eyre.
Mrs. Bisback was over
with the Ontario Mass
Pipers and Drums Band
at the Edinburgh Festival
and was able to take a

Sigma Phi held their first
fall meeting at the home

The Clinton Branch of
the Canadian. Cancer
Soelety has exceeded its
1979. fund ' raising ,ob-
jective by over $3,000 -so
far.
The branch set its
objective at $7,300 this
year and has managed to
raise $11,070.86 as. of June
25. Of this total $7,929.10
has come from door-to-
door campaigning;
$1,675.25 from the sale of
daffodils; and $561.51
from special events.
The Huron County Unit
has set a goal of $45,000
for 1979 and has already
raised $67,099. This total
is up 23 per cent from last
year when $50,730 was
raised. Given the
population of Huron
County, the money raised
so far this year means a
donation of about $1.20
per person-
The Canadian
Foresters organization is
one of the major sup-
porters
On July 11, the Canadian
Foresters Life Insurance
Society of Brantford
presented the National
Office of the Cancer
Society with a cheque for
$61,500. Of that amount
$20,408.19 is the Ontario
Division's share. The
total contribution made
by the Foresters in the
period 1976-79 .- • is
$122,1.30.83.
The amount donated to
the Huron County Unit by
the Foresters this Year at
the national level so far id
$4,658.56. From 1976 to
1979, the Benmiller Court
of the Foresters has
donated $4,803..50 to the
Cancer Society; the
Constance Court
$2,571.08; and the Huron
District Court $2,911 for a
total of $10,285.58. u

Southwestern Districts of
the Canadian Cancer
Society will hold a mini -
conference in the
Chatham -Kent Secon-
dary School. There will
be special workshops on
all major areas of in-
terest. Dr. P.G.

of Canada, will be the
principal speaker. Bill
