Marilyn Catherine Van
Altena of Clinton became
the wife of Blair Walter
Vaneyk of RR 5,
Bowmanville in a July 14
wedding ceremony at the
Wesley -Willis Church in
Clinton.
The bride is the
daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Van Altena of
Clinton and the groom is
the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Brian Vaneyk, a brother
of the groom from
Bowmanville. Wedding
guests were ushered into
the church by Andy Van
Altena, a brother of the
bride and Bob Watson, a
friend of the bride and
groom.
Following the
ceremony a reception
was held at the Canadian\
Legion Hall in Goderich.

Bowmanville. that came from the area
Rev. Norman Pick as well as Holland,
conducted the double ring-Bowmanville, Toronto,
ceremony in the church Hamilton and London,
that was decorated with r_ -the bride's mother wore a
candelabra, white
• gladioli and daisies. Mrs.
Bonnie Jewitt was the
soloist and Cathy Potter
played the accompanying
organ ,music.
For the occasion, the
bride wore a floor -length
gown of white chiffon,
with insets of nylon net
trimmed with imported
French lace at the front
of the dress and at the
sleeves. The gown
featured a high neckline,
edged in lace and a
cathedral train reaching
the floor. She also wore a
nylon net veil, bordered
in lace. Her bouquet was
made up of silk roses,
American Beauty colored
and accented with baby's
breath. The bouquet was
enclosed in green and
white foliage and had
trailing white _ silk
streamers.
Accompanying the
bride as maid of honor
was Diane Van Bergen of
Exeter. She was dressed
in a peach colored
polyester double knit
gown. The floor -length
dress featured a ruffled
full collar. To complete
her outfit the 'maid of
honor carried a nosegay
of silk roses, American
Beauty and pink in color
with daisies and baby's
breath throughout it. The
flowers were enclosed in
green and white foliage.
The bridesmaids were
Dawn Vaneyk, a sister of
the groom and Diana
Vreeken, a cousin of the
bride. They were dressed
in gowns similar to that
worn by the maid of
honor.
The flowergirl, Lee Ann
Wammes, a friend of the
'bride and groom, wore a
full-length peach and
white floral colored,
polyester gown.She
carried: a . White wicker
basket -filled with
American Beauty and
pink colored silk roses,
daisies, baby's breath
and foliage.
The best man was

colored peau de soie. She
wore a rust colored silk
flower corsage.
The couple have made
their new home at RR 5,

Bowmanville will .be put
into use.

ill Mutch dies
A well known Clinton
citizen and businessman,
William James Mutch
died on August 21 after a
five week 'illness. He was
72 years old.
He was born in Clinton
on December 28, 1902 to
Sarah Jane (Carter) and
Frederick Mutch.
He attended public
school in Clinton and ,the
Collegiate 'Institute in
Clinton.
A life time resident of
Clinton, Mr. Mutch was
the former co-owner of
Ball and Mutch Furniture
and funeral home. He
was also a member of the
Royal Canadian Air
Force Pipe Band, the
Clinton Presbyterian
Church, the Royal
Canadian Legion; the
Independent Order of
Oddfellows, and the
Clinton Lions Club.
In 1936 he married
Madeline Streets in
Hensall. She predeceased.
him: In 1973 he married
Ruth Tiernan in Seaforth.
She survives him.
Besides his wife, het is
survived by one sister,
Jean Jacob of Clinton;
and two brothers, Frank
Mutch of Clinton and
Jack Mutch of Detroit,
A funeral and com-
mittal service were held
in Clinton on August 24
with Rev. Stan McDonald
officiating. Interment
followed at the Clinton
Cemetery.
Stanley lady dies
Ella Myrtle McAsh of
Varna died in Huronview
on August 20 at the age of
88.
She was born in Stanley
Township on April 10,
1891 to Mr. and Mrs.
William Logan Keys. She
attended S.S. 5 School in
Stanley Township and
Seaforth District High
School.
She was married to
John T. McAsh in-
Seaforth in July, 1916 and
took up residence in
Varna. She was pred-
ceased by her husband
five Years ago.
She was a piano
teacher; a, member of
Varna United Church; a
life member of the UCW
and church organist for a
number of years.
She is survived by two
sons, William of . Varna
and Floyd of Hamilton;
four grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was
held at .Ball Funeral
Home in Clinton on
August 22 with Rev. Stan
McDonald officiating.
Interment was in Baird's
Ce•mete•ry, Stanley
Township.
Pallbearers were Fred
McClymont, Robert
Taylor, Ernest Talbot,
John Keys, Arnold Keys
and Wilfred Chuter.
Flower bearers were
Gary , McAsh, _Douglas
McAsh,. Brian McAsh and
Murray Morrison.

fashioned on empire
lines. The bodice, with a
Queen Anne neckline,
was trimmed with Venice
lace and featured long
full pleated sleeves. The
full pleated skirt fell into
a chapel train. Her
headpiece, a Juliet cap of
lace and pearls held irk
it
place her scalloped
fingertip veil of tulle
i1•lusien edged in scheffle
embroidery.
The bride's silk
bouquet was Idesigned
with peach roes, soft
yellow - miniature car-
nations, white camelias,
lily of the 'valley and a
haze of baby's breath.
Maid of honor was Miss
Helen Hetherington of
RR3, Brussels. •
Bridesmaids were Miss
Yvonne Blake, RR;
Brussels; Mrs, Wilma
Vincent, RR1 Londesboro
and. Miss Anne Machan,
Brussels.
They were dressed
alike in peach colored
jersey floor -length
dresses with a gathered
bodice covered with a
double layer sheer cape
tied at the neck. From an
empire waist the skirt fell
into pleats. Each carried
an informal silk bouquet
of peach blossoms, cream
miniature carnations and
beige daisies accented
with a touch of orange
ice.
The groom was at-
tended by Wilson Powell
of RR2 Wroxeter and
guests were ushered by
Randy Woods, Listowel;
Michael Blake RR2
Brussels and Jack Vin-
cent, Brussels.
For the supper in the
church parlour and later
a reception in Brussels,
Grey and Morris Com-
munity Centre, the
bride's mother wore a
long gown of old rose
quiana with lace bodice
and full pleated skirt with
a short matching lace
jacket accented with a
silk white orchid edged
with pink..
Tile groom's mother
chose a maize colored
iersey long gown
featuring an A-line skirt
and short matching
jacket gathered at the
waist• It was accented by
an elegant corsage of
orange tiger lilies.
For her going away
outfit, Mary Loth wore .a
gray, orange and beige
printed dress with a
belted waist and full
pleated skirt and' a
corsage of silk shrimp
poppies with contrasting
ribbon.
After a honeymoon
travelling in Ontario the
couple will be residing in
Ethel.
