Church News Morning Prayer was held in St. James' .Anglican Church on Sunday morning. Ray Wise and Edward Deeves received the offering. Canon F.fi, , Paull gave the sermon, assisted through the service by Mr. DuBoulay • of Bayfiekl. NeXt Sunday Holy Communion will be celebrated in St. James' at 11:15 am. For the month of September, Lynda Steenstra and Lois Wise will be on for church care. Bridal Shower On Monday evening, August 27 a bridal shower was held for Gwen Pickett at the home of `Mrs. Marion Powell. Corsages made by Marion Powell were pinned on the bride-to-be, her mother, the groom's mother, Olive Bell by Blanche Deeves. Mrs. Phyllis Wise led the ladies in a game •of thinking by finding the vegetables and fruits In each sentence. Mrs. June Potter had a game a garage sale, which proved interesting, with the answers on what we thought of our husbands. Mrs. Powell gave an address to Gwen prior to the opening of her gifts which were presented to her by Mary Anne Pickett, Angela Radford and Nina Potter. Mary Pickett, sister of the bride-to-be, assisted by putting gift bows on an apron. Gwen thanked the ladies for coming and for , the lovely giifts she received. Lunch was served by the hostess assisted by ,June Potter and Marg Powell. A social time was enjoyed • Personals Congratulations to Jean McEwen who won the most points–at the Clinton Flower Show and also to Marion Powell for her winnings. We hear our race horse boys in the area are winning again so congratulations boys and horses!!! Edward and Blanche * Deeves were guests on Sunday with Marg and Eric Switzer at the Sugar Bush. Many from the area enjoyed the bean festival in Zurich. Farmers in this area are busy these dry days combining and getting their straw in - not much time left for pleasure. Lois and Bill Smith and girls and Bob and Nancy Smith and family enjoyed Sunday at the home of Jack and Marion Smith, Dungannon when the family gathered for. a reunion. All 33,, were present. The ladies of Middleton church will be at the Bayfield fair selling their tickets on the Pansy Quilt, on September lst and 2nd.
