Some 68 children were registered inthis. year's program. The day began with an open house in the mor- ning, when the children's crafts were displayed in the . hall, the church basement and the church sanctuary. This was followed by a program with Brenda Radford as the master ' of ceremonies. She welcomed everyone and introduced the teachers and their helpers who included: nursery, Yvonne Hoggart, Laura Scott and assistant Brenda Millar; kindergarten, Edith Taylor, Mararet Wright and assis ant Susan Jamieson.; 'p itn'ary, Joan Shepherd, Joan Howatt and assistant Kathy Radford. These ..groups met in the church. Classes that met in the' hall included: middles, Ann Adams, Donna Shaddick and assistant Carol Cartwright; Juniors, Joan Whyte, Betty Moon and assistant Helen Lawson. A sing soWg .was then led by Barbara Liver- more with Diane Stevenson providing the piano accompaniment. London where he underwent • surgery on August 16. Jean is staying with her mother, Mrs. Colquhoun in Clinton, while Len is away. Visitors last Tuesday and'Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns were Mr. and Mrs. Colin Paterson of London, Mrs. Anne Paterson of Crief, Scotland and Sheila McPherson of Glasgow, Scotland. On Wednesday, Mrs. Burns accompanied them to Kincardine, where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Smith. Allen Bannister from Belfast, Ireland visited Berean Unit plan to visit school The Berean Unit of the UCW met in the Lon- desboro United Church on August 14 and the leader Helen Lawson led in the devotions. Fourteen members answered the roll call by stating a place they had been or would like to go on vacation. Mrs. Lawson then gave a reading and led • in prayer. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary, Dora Shob- brook and the treasurer's report was given Laura Lyons. She noted that the July givings amounted to $43.93. The ladies were reminded that there will be a bus trip to Alrra College in St. Thomas* Auguste -21. The. bus will leave Seaforth at 7 am. On. October 1, the. Thankoffering will be held and Addie Hunking will be in charge of the lunch. . The regional meeting will be held in• Varna on October 16. The Berean Unit has been invited to attend a meeting of the Airnwell Unit in Seaforth on September 17. Margaret Good will clean the brass in the church for Sep- tember.- The ep- tember.The worship and progran were taken by Mary Longman . and Edythe Beacom. Mrs. Longman gave a reading. and a hymn was sung with Hattie Wood ac- conipanying at the piano. After another reading by Mrs. Longman, Mrs. Beacom led in prayer Mrs., Beacom showed slides taken at Silver Springs, Florida. They included shots of the glass bottom boat where artist Mr. Cunningham made a memorial to the life of Christ with car- vings including depic- tions of the Nativity scene, Christ's preaching and healing, the Last Supper. as well as many other occasions. Mrs. Longman gave the reading and the worship portion of the meeting closed with a hymn and the Betaledict.ion, was given by Alice _Davidson. Lunch was then served by Laura Lyon and Isabel. Airdrie. The Hope Chapel cemetery decoration service will 'be held on August 26. Lyon family meet Forty members of the Lyon family _met on August 12 in Thamesville for their annual reunion. People from this •area who attended the event included, Ida Durnin, Bert, Cheryl, Murray, Shirley, Bradley and Deana Lyon. Other relations Southill, northern Dresden, came from Michigan, Michi.gan, Thamesville, Exeter, Clinton and London. The oldest person at- tending was Edna Holmes and the second oldest was Mrs. Durnin. The youngest was week old Jeffrey._ Next year the reunion will be held at the Clinton Conservation Park with Harold Lobb of Clinton as president. n last weekend with his cousins, Mrs. Isabel Airdrie and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Scanlon. Last Wednesday they travelled to Dearborn, Michigan to visit Mr. Dave Mair and` returned home on Thursday, 'Visiting for a- few days with Mrs. Harriett Knizx and Laura was Mrs. Mabel Smith of Alma. Mr. and Mrs. Al Daniberg from Fort Pierre, Florida visited with Mr. and Mrs, Orville Newby last week. WI members Marjorie Duizer, Addie Hunking, Hazel Reid, Nona Pipe, Dora Shobbrook, June Fothergill, Hattie Snell, Annie Vincent, Margaret Taylor and Alice Buchanan were guests at the WI meeting in Walton last Wednesday evening. Mr. Emerson Hesk spent the past week with his daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ron MacLellan and Stephen in Mount lope. • On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Burns visited with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Colin Paterson. of London. Mr. and Mrs. Doug Radford of Niagara Falls spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs Gordon Radford and visited Bill Radford in Victoria Hospital, London on Saturday. Mrs. John Riley returned home on Monday after spending the weekend in Clinton hospital. A number from the area attended church in Hensall on Sunday morning. Dennis Shobbrook, Kim and Cindy of Galt visited on Sunday with his brother, Mr. and Mrs'. Gordon Shobbrook and piana. Mrs. Shobbrook Cheerio Club meet The Cheerio Club met in the home of Gladys Armstrong on August 15 with Ida Durnin acting as chairman of the meeting. After a reading, she welcomed everyone and thanked Mrs. Armstrong for opening her home. Mrs. Armstrong played the piano to accompany hymns. sung. The minutes of the last •meeting .. and . the treasurer's "report were given by Addie Hunking and the roll call was answered by 11 members and two visitors, Maimie Crawford and : Doreen Carter. . The draw, donated by Florence Vivian, was won by Edythe Beacom. Doreen Carter gave a talk on a trip she took to Spain last March, flying with Quebec .Air. Everyone enjoyed, her report and she was thanked by Ida Durnin. After the close of the meeting, some card games were played and lunch was provided by Mrs. Armstrong, Mrs. Durnin and Vi Burns. Group 3 will be in charge of the next meeting. Couple mark 50th The Clinton Wheel -N - Dealers square dancers honored Edwin q and Hattie Wood on August 18 on the occasion of the couple's 50th wedding anniversary. Several former sqaure dance friends were present to congratulate the couple and to enjoy the evening of dance held at Hullett Central School. Along with the dancing, everyone enjoyed .some reminiscing .of days gone by and more humor was added, to the festivities with a mock wedding. att d D' ded and Diana en. a shower on Sunday for trie-elect Connie e 1ynn;, the fiancee of Kevin Adams. The shower was held in the home of Janet McAdam in Wingham. 1Virs. Florence Cart- wright, John and Claude spent last week at a single Parents' family camp at Camp Menesetung near Goderich. Kevin Hulley was a counsellor there. Mr. arid Mrs. Wayne Jackson, Brian, Ken and Sandra of Ridgetown visited on the •weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen. Brian .is staying on for this week and Donnie Allen returned home with Ken for a week. Mr. and Mrs. 'Bab 'Thompson visited on Sflnday with M. and • Mrs. John . Lawrie, Robbie and Jennifer of Kitchener. They celebrated the birthday of Audrey's. mother, Mrs. Wm. Hamilton of Moorefield and Beth's mother Mrs. Raymond • Radford of London. Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hunking, Mr. •and Mrs. Torn Duizerand family spent Sunday at the CNE in Toronto. Visitors last week with Jim Neilans were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Brown of Palmerston. On Sunday Mr..
