Approximately 20 children went on the trip to Goderich Beach, where .we explored the lighthouse, the monumental anchors and the monumental cannon. The Lake Huron Zone Playday was enjoyed by all the 38 children from ourplaygrounds who participated in the event. Although none of .. the children from our playgrounds were members of the two winning teams, the nonsicles and ribbons • given to them, more than compensated for the loss. Carnival week was held from July 16 through July 20. This was enjoyed .by all . the children in the playgroundg, p.j.tch the penny, bowling and a fish pond were just some of the games played. Approximately 1 0 0 children in all par- ticipated in the carnivals. Last week's trip was to the Pinery in Grand Bend, where the children explored the trails and enjoyed swimming in the lake. This. week -a trip to the Van Egmond House and Seaforth Pool is scheduled. All this week was Come to the Movies week. The children viewed ten films in all On Monday, the Binkley and Doinkel Road Show appeared at the Vanastra Recreation Centre. Approximately 40 children enjoyed thet. antics of Pockets the Clown, Sniffer and of • course, Binkley and Doinkel.- The children we're taught by the road show the signs of danger and the meaning -of each sign.. When things start moving and running smoothly BANG!. Some one or group d people step in and try to tell you how to run things with something like: "This kid - should be here or there," or "This one should not play any more." If you listened to these people, (who I call backyard coaches) you could go right out of your ever lovin' tree. So, to the .backyard coaches, "Where were you in the Spring, when _it all started?" teach the rules and sportsmanship to your child or children, to reprernand when necessary and give a shoulder when needed. Teen Club plans float The Teen Club is putting a float in the Vanastra Tuckersmith fair. They are busy collecting costumes and props. This was a .home game against the Hensall team. .The team lost this game by 17 runs. We wish By Rene Brochu Our highlight for a week at the Legion was the occasion of the second annual associate members barbecue and dance. It was a tremendous success as even the weatherman co- operated with an early evening of sunshine. The outdoor meal ` was prepared to each • one's taste and the service friendly and obliging, and the associate members were ever present to fill each one's needs. Well, we're back from holidays and they were all, too short, so we're planning another trip back west next summer, God willing! Some past news certainly worthy of mention was our Clinton pee -wee ball team who won high honours in our zone and district ball competition, winning both the zone and district trophies. A bit b'elated, but still a sincere congratulations to the boys and our thanks to sports chairman Don Armstrong and to zone sports officer Bill Harris for their time and effort. Camp Canbay is 'owned and operated by the Fellowship Baptist Churches of London and surrounding area. When frozen,. place in a large bowl and -add: 1 tbsp. vanilla. Whip with an electric beater until mixture becomes light and creamy but not melted. Return mixture to fridge and allow to finish freezing. (A 1 -oz. square or more of un- sweetened chocolate may be added. Pee Wee Boys Last Thursday, July 24, the Tuckersmith Bad News Bears met with the Exeter B pee wee team at the Vanastra diamond. The Bears lost this game 32-11. The game that was scheduled for Wednesday July 25 at Thames Road had to be cancelled again due,to the rain. Pee Wee Girls On July 30 our pee wee girls played in Exeter where they lost 32-10. The girls gave it their best shot with a double play Made by Christa Lenhen and Lynn McFadden.
