Post titpe at Clinton is 1:30 p.m. with qualifying races held at 12:30 p.m. On Thurklay, July 26, Goderich Raceway featured two divisions of the Radio Shack - OHHA pacing series. Dynamite Leroy, a Seton Hanover horseyvith a 2:01.1 record this year, had the fastest mile in 2:04. Future Fortune•was second, with Carl MacArthur taking third with Pike Pole for John Cox of Wingham and Wm. Laverty, of Seaforth. Benmiller Buddi, owned by Lois Vanstone, with Verdun on the bike, closed strongly to finish second by a nose over Gerry Roebuck driving Nancy Meadow that he co-owns with George Feagan of Goderich. David Kirkby of Goderich was fourth with his Missy McBride after winning two, heats with her at Listowel Fair on 'Saturday. 1-1.0. ('Bud) Jerry of Goderich was second with his six-year-old Scarlet Wave pacing mare in the tenth, while John Shaddick finished third with Claybrook Kaola for Lionel Kloss of Goderich. Proceeds of the dance ,will go to the Pool Fund. • Canoeing A canoeing clink will be held in the Clinton Pool beginning Saturday, Augustillth. The,basics of canoeing will be taught by several avid canoeists in the Town with a lifeguard present at .all times. There will. be three sessions, the last session being held on Saturday, August 25th. During the session, the children will learn how to manouever a canoe, how to get in and out of a canoe, boat safety and many other things. A film will be shown, the first Saturday and on the last Saturday morning, the children may be taken out to a pond in the Hullett Conservation Area. Tennis • Arrangements are underway to hold a tennis demonstration at the new courts behind the high school. In addition, steps are being taken to organize a Tennis Club here in Town. Anyone interested in becoming invollfed with the organization of such a club should contact Michele Flowers at the Town Hall. Perhaps at this time arrangaments could be made to organize a Gymnastics Club in Clinton if there is significant interest. Horeshoe Pits - The* Recreation Committee is looking into restoring the horeshoe pits behind the Legion. There will be an an- nouncement in the paper when the pts are available for use. The first edition of this advertisement can be found on the sports page of this week's paper. Coaches of teams with whom I have not already been in contact are asked to send me a list of their upcoming home games so that they can be included in this list. Contact the Town Hall about any upcoming recreational events which you feel should be included in this list.. Th e Housewives hosted the Goderich Elevator baseball team on July 26 and swamped their visitors 17-3., But it wasn't until the bottom of i -the second inning that Clinton took the lead with a single hit by Jan Rutledge. in the bottom of the seventh inning the Housewives left the Goderich-teaml behind and went on a rampage, widening their lead to 8-0. Goderich threatened in the fourth inning with three runs on two errors by the Housewives, but Clinton held on the bottom of the fourth when Carol Lobb hit a triple, bringing Mary Morley in to score. Clinton con- tintled-their Strong game in the sixth inning, with six additional runs. At the end of the game, Goderich had left seven runners on base while Clinton left only three. The winning pitcher for the Housewives was Gail Daer.
