Superannuated Teachers gather for banquet
by Rene Brochu
Another eventful week
transpired at our Legion
Branch last week com-
mencing with the
Superannuated Teachers
Dinner which was held in
our Auditorium last
Thursday at noon hour.
The guests were treated
to cocktails prior to the
dinner at which 80
teachers now retired
from the Huron County
area were assembled
enewing old acquain-
tances. A dinner
prepared by the Ladies
Auxiliary was enjoyed by
the group.

The children's theatre
workshops that have been
so successful in the past
will be held once more in
Blyth this summer. The
Blyth Centre for the Arts
is sponsoring two three-
week sessions from July 2
- 20 and from July 23 -
August 10, for children of
elementary school age.
The children will be
taught basic stagecraft
and creative drama
techniques and will apply
their knowledge in the
creation of a play to be
performed publicly at the
conclusion of each
session.
The workshops are
made possible by 'the
Experience '79 program
of the ministry of culture
and.recreation. Two post-
secondary school
students, Janet Anderson
and Barbara Huget, will
be responsible for the
direction of the
workshops. Ms. Anderson
is' currently enrolled in
the theatre program of
Humber College in her
native city of Toronto.
Ms. Huget comes to Blyth
(from the theatre program
at York University. She is

Immediately following
the dinner, our staff was
put to task re -arranging
the auditorium for the
bingo, which followed
that evening. Eric
Switzer's team was kept
busy with the 103 bingo
enthusiasts on hand, the
share-the-wealths were
indeed enticing, and
splitting the $200 jackpot
were Doreen McGynn of
Clinton and Maud Weston
of Bayfield.
Our Friday TGIF was
again successful, with a
steady stream of
comrades and guests
dropping in for a visit.
Winning the first raffle
prize was our president,
Slim Lacroix, while the
second prize went to our
secretary., Gord
'Dalgleish. Our at-
tendance draw went
unclaimed as Ruth Mutch,,
had not registered. Come
Friday evening, who'll be
the lucky person? It could
be you!
Saturday evening, our
Legion auditorium was
the scene of a wedding
reception, as 'Marilynne
' Wise, was united with
Wayne McCausland.
Guests were from many
far off places including
Calgary, Meaford,
Toronto, Stous'sville,
Sarnia, Hamilton, and
London, as well as many
surrounding com-
munities. Bruce Harris

Playgoers will quickly
recognize that many of
the characters are the
same zany group they
saw in the Playhouse's
1977 production of Philip
King's, "See How They

antics are even funnier.

of course was Father's
Day, our branch held its
Decoration Day at the
cemetery, where
markers were placed at
all the graves in which
our .departed comrades
have been buried. At 7
p.m., led by our pipe band
and color party, a good
representation from our
branch of men and ladies
auxiliary members
paraded tq the place of
remembrance. Our
Chaplain, Reverend
James Broadfoot, led us
in prayers of remem-

president, John Semple
laid the customary
wreath. The ceremony
ended with the singing of
God Save the Queen.
Our Ladies Auxiliary
was again on the job last
Monday evening as they
once again catered to the

upon us and you'll be able
to enjoy a well earned
rest.
Our Branch was sad-
