Field Day
On Tuesday, June 12th
at Huron Centennial
School at Brucefield we
had our field day. We,
meaning fourth grade
and up to seventh grade,
went to the gym at 11 and
were put in our teams.
Then we were sent out
side to start. There were
10 events and 20 groups.
You met only five groups.
We started playing at
about 11:30. When the car
horn beeped then we went
to work and we all had
fun.
We stopped at 12 for
lunch and then we had
recess until 12:45. We had
quiet reading time until
1:00. Finally at 1 we
started again. We went
until 3:20. In June we
always have play day or
field day. —by Lori Anne

On Tuesday, Huron
Centennial School had a
playday that included
kindergarten to grade 8.
The grade 8 students
really didn't play in,
playday but were cap-'
tains of all the teams.
Twenty teams com-
peted in ten activities
which were junk man's
relay, soccer dribble,
dodgeball, volleyball,
obstacle course baseball,
circle chase, standing
broaqjump relay, hoop
chae, and line and
scatter. My favourite one
was the junk mans relay.
It was played by
everyone standing up in a
line, and at the front of
each line there was a pile
of junk. In each pile there
was a hoola hoop, a
bowling pin, a skipping
rope, a bean bag and a
ball. Each item was
separately passed to the
back person in the line.
He would then carry it up
to the front of the line.
This continued until the
original person was at the
head of the line again.
Near the end of .each
game a car horn
signalled the last five
minutes. When the five
minutes were up, the car
horn blew twice.
Everybody in the school
had an enjoyable day,
especially me. —by
Becky McKinley, grade 6

baseball, keep up, ob-
stacle race, hoop ex-
change, and junk man's

pole ribbons awarded for
the best people to get
along with other people
and t cheer people on
and not being jealous if
other people win instead
of your team and not
getting angry at people
on your team, if they
couldn't do things fast
enough.
