Next week has been officially 4eclared Senior Citizens' Week. The "young -old" folk from Clinton and area are a great bunch. They enjoy life and ask little in return. They are a going crowd, either with bus trips here and there or with their card games, quilting meetings, and by supporting local clubs. Keep up your life style we are all proud of you. Last Sunday, June 17 was the 40th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Cox of Mill Street, Clinton. Elaine and Jerry Cox assisted by Ann and Craig Cox hosted a quiet celebration for close friends and family members at the former's home on Ontario Street. + ++ Mrs. Ila Cudmore and Mrs. Ruth Bond attended the 73rd annual con- vention of the Ontario Horticultural Society held at the Holiday Inn, London, last week. + ++ From time to time we feel we give credit where credit is due to the fine work of the Clinton Horticultural Society in dressing up our town, especially at this time of year. This week we can commend to you the poem on the editorial page written by the Society's president, Ruth Bond. Read it, it's both clever and thought provoking and let's hope activating as well. + + + Mr. and Mrs. Angus McRae of London; Mrs. Ruby Smith of Valley City, North Dakota; Mrs. Grace Jacobson of Spokane, Washington; Mrs. Clarence Bredeson of Edmore, North Dakota; visited Sunday with their cousins Mr. and Mrs. Orval Greer, Clinton. +++ Elva Wiltse, a long time member of Ontario Street United Church Choir was honored at an appreciation night held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Al. Jewson on Wednesday, June 13, 1979. Many past and present choir members were in attendance. Miss Wiltse was presented with a lovely corsage, an engraved silver locket and matching earrings on behalf of the choir. John Lavis spoke of her great dedication to the choir in the past and wished her continued good health and service in the choir for years to come. An evening of games followed by a pot luck lunch was enjoyed by all. +++ Graduation ceremonies were held at Fanshawe College recently for apprentices enrolled in the Advanced Auto Body Repairer and the Advanced Plumber programs. CHILDREN'S CORNER LITTLE PEOPLE'S PUZZLE of Clinton. The weather was ideal and over 60 relatives attended the event. The young people played baseball and ran races while the older people visited during the afternoon. At 5 p.m. a bountiful smorgasbord supper was enjoyed by all when reunion president, Keith Snell welcomed everyone. In special contests, Norma Behrns held the lucky ticket on the lawn chair. Annabelle Quain came the greatest distance, from Calgary, Alberta. Mrs. Jessie Snell had the most members present and the youngest member was Wesley Snell of Waterloo. The oldest person present was Elsie Youngblutt of Clinton. Eva Walker and Kippen folk busy reunion Grant Snell had birthdays closest to the date of the reunion. The couple most recently married were Ed and Catherine Cor- nish. Don Snell of Waterloo read some rousing recitations.
