Warden Tinney had taken ill while at a health conference in Timmins. He had suffered a gallbladder attack there earlier in the week and on Thursday was being flown from Timmins to London's University Hospital for surgery. Warden Tinney's sickness couldn't have happened at a more opportune time. He was accompanied at the conference by Dr. Brian Lynch, Medical Officer of Health of Huron County who remained with the warden until he was returned to this area. Former Warden Bill Elston was appointed to take over Tinney's duties. Hanly reminded council that while Tinney is absent, Elston will have all the powers of the' warden.
