Baptists hear speakers
The Bayfield Baptist
Church was honored to
have as guest speakers'on
Sunday, Rev. Gabriel
Cotnoir from Quebec and
Rev. Ivor Bodenham of
Hensall. The Pastor, Rev.
Les Shiel, Mrs. Shiel and
daughter Joy are
vacationing with their
son, Brian, at Briarcrest
Bible College in
Saskatchewan and at-
tending a conference
there.
Pastor Cotnoir was' in
charge of the adult Bible
class in the Sunday
School while Mrs. Cotnoir
spoke to the children.
For the morning ser-
vice Pastor Cotnoir used
the passage from Mark
chapter two, verses one
to 12. He told of the rapid
growth of the Fellowship
in French Work both in
Quebec and in Ontario.
He spoke about the sick
—man in the passage from
the Bible, how he was
he' aled because his four
friends had faith that
Jesus could heal him.
When they couldn't get in
they still found .a way,
they let him down
through the roof. When
Jesus saw such faith, and
saw the man's greatest
need, his sins were
forgiven, THEN he was
healed.
Even here today when
believers believe and
pray, sinners are saved.
If we are concerned
enough, God will work
miracles, but He wants to
use us. God does ac-
cording to our faith. Are
we concerned enough?
Do we really believe
enough? Are sinners
saved because we believe
and pray? Jesus told the
sick man "Arise; take up
your bed and walk".
For the evening service
Pastor Bodenham , used
Righteousness as his
theme, taking his text
from Matthew chapter
five, verse 20. He said this
world is not our home, we
are just passing through.
Where we spend Eternity
is our decision.
Twenty-six young
people from the Church
had a very enjoyable
time when they met for a
swimming party at
Vanastra Friday
evening. They returned to
the church for Bible
study, prayer and songs
under the leadership of
Mark Nicholson, which
was followed with
refreshments.

Clan custodian feted
A very lovely dinner
was catered taby Mr. and
Mrs. Miller of Seaforth in
the lounge of the Clan
Gregor Apartments last
Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
when all our group
honored our special
guests, Mr. and Mrs. Reg
York. Reg has been our
congenial and willing
custodian of the apart-
ments since the first
tenant moved in three
years ago.
The two long tables
were beautifully
arranged with linen
tablecloths. Yellow
daffodils, yellow candles
in silver holders and
yellow table napkins,
pretty floral decorated
place cards added a
finishing touch. This
work was done by Mrs.
Agnes Cameron. The
flowers were given to us
by Brigadier and Mrs.
Morgan Smith and we
thank them very much
for them. A basket of
flowers, large double
daffodils was on the
organ and one in the
vestibule were arranged
by Mrs. Mary Nediger.
Mr. Ray Schell asked
the blessing and our ham
and turkey dinner was
placed on the table as an
old-fashioned dinner with
all the trimmings.
After dinner, Mrs.
Mary Nediger read a
short address to Reg
telling him of our ap-
preciation of the won-
derful work he has done
here both inside and
outside, and saying how
we shall miss hjm and his
kindness with all the little
personal jobs .we needed
done. His cheery whistle
and chats were' part of
our day.
On behalf of us all, Mr.
Bert Dunn presented Reg
with an electric Bulova
wrist -watch and Mrs.
Reta Upshall presented
Margaret with a silver
trillium pin, along with
all our wishes for a happy
retirement:
Reg and Margaret
were very surprised but

and wishes. They wil.
always be very welcome
visitors over here and we
all think they are a very
wonderful couple and are
happy that they will still
be our neighbours.
Bingo was played with
each winner having as a
prize a lovely daffodil.
We had our usual sing-
song with Jay Ball as
organist. After going
through thc. cnr+g honk
Mrs. Mary Nediger sang
our favorite song
We really missed one
member of the clan, Mrs.
Dorothy Weston who was
nursing a minor illness.
Don't let this happen
again Dorothy, as we can
always count on you to
keep a party a really fun
party. We missed you.

A mother scolded her
son for pulling the cat's
tail. The young boy
replied, "I'm not pulling
the cat's tail, I'm standing
on it and he's doing the
pulling."
