Arnold Circle Meet
The Arnold Circle
Evening Auxiliary of
Carmel Presbyterian
Church met at the home
of Mrs. Ken Pollock last
Wednesday evening. The
President Mrs. Don
Volland presided for the
business of the meeting
and Mrs. Pollock and
Mrs. Gary Maxwell were
in charge of the worship.
The next meeting will
be held on May 16 at the
home of Mrs. R. Van -
stone. Lunch was served
by the hostess Mrs.
Pollock and a social hour
enjoyed.
Amber Rebekah Lodge
Celebrates 30th
Anniversary
The members.of Amber
Rebekah Lodge ac-
companied by Kathleen
Cuthill of Seaforth and a
number of members of
Edelweiss Rebekah
Lodge of Seaforth en-
joyed a banquet at
Pineridge Chalet last
Wednesday evening
celebrating the 30th
anniversary of Amber
Lodge.
Following the dinner
they all returned to the
Lodge rooms to honor
Sister Kathleen Cuthill,
District Deputy
President of Huron
District No. 23 who made
her annual visit. J.,r.
P.N.G. Maggie Campbell
presented Mrs. Cuthill to
the Lodge.
The Noble Grand Mrs.
Hazel Corbett welcomed
all the visitors and the
Vice Grand Mrs.
Elizabeth assisted her.
The finance report was
given by Bertha
MacGregor L.S.N.G. and
conductor Gladys
Coleman. The Vice Grand
gave the report for the
visiting and the C.P.T.,
L.S.V.G. Olga Chipchase
gave the district report
held at Seaforth last
week. Mrs. Pearl Eyre
gave the treasurer's
report in the absence of
Dorothy Corbett.
It was announced that
Mrs. Jean Henderson of
Huronia Rebekah Lodge,
Clinton would be the
incoming District Deputy
for Huron District 23. An
invitation was received to
a dessert euchre and
bake sale at Huronia
Lodge, Clinton on May 2.
A Dessert Euchre and
Bake Sale will be held in
Amber Rebekah Lodge
rooms on May 9. The
District Church service
will be held in Wesley -
Willis Church, Clinton on
May 6 at 11 a.m.
Sister Cuthill gave an
outstanding address on
The Place of Women in
Oddfellowship and
congratulated the
members on their an-
niversary. Mrs. Camp-
bell presented Sister
Cuthill with a gift and
also gave a few notes on
the former Lodge
Kapina.- Remarks were
given by Bertha
MacGregor and Jeanette
Baker of Seaforth..
Court Whist was flayed
with the following prize
winners; high, Esther
Campbell; low, Margaret
Consitt, lucky cup, Leona
Parke.
Noble Grand Hazel
Corbett led in prayer and
Sister Cuthill and Mrs.
Campbell cut the bir-
thday cake. Refresh-
ments were served by the

IOOF Hold Euchre
The Oddfellows Lodge
members held a most
successful euchre on
Thursday evening with 12
tables playing. euchre.
Jack Upshall was Master
of Ceremonies. Prize
winners were: ladies'
high, Mrs. Elizabeth
Riley; ladies' low, Mrs.
Wreatha Gregg; gent's
high, Bill Rogerson;
gent's low, Clarence
Volland; lone hands, Tom
Yellow.
A draw was made on a
side of beef which was
won by Rick McLellan. A
draw for a side of pork
was won by Ed Gascho.
Former Hensall Resident
Passes
W. Horton McDougall,
formerly of Hensall died
at the Bluewater Rest
Home, Zurich, on April
17, 1979 its his 84th year.
Surviving is his wife the
former Agnes McKeller;
a son Hughie McDougall,
Hensall; daughters
(Marjorie) Mrs. John
Drake, Staffa; (Jean)
Mrs. William Freele,
Windsor; (Dorothy) Mrs.
Gordon Hess, Zurich;
(Betty) Mrs. Glenn Love,
Sarnia; (Mary) Mrs. Ron
Bossi, Montreal. Also
surviving, are 15 grand-
children and seven
great-grandchildren.
Two sisters Mrs.
Christina Souter,
Seaforth, and Mrs.
Richard Pfeiffero,
Arizona also survive.
Funeral services were
held from the Hop.per-
Hockey Funeral Home,
Exeter, April 19 with.
Pastor Ross Hargreaves
officiating. Temporary
entombment in Exeter
Cemetery.
Mrs. Flora Rapson
Passes
Mrs. Flora Rapson
formerly of Hensall and
Summerhill passed away
at Maple Grove Lodge,
Goderich on April 15 in
her 89th year. She was the
wife of the late Orval
Rapson. Survivtng are
daughters: Mrs. (Hazel)
Murray Milton,' Toronto;
Mrs. Clare McBride,
Goderich; (Lois) Mrs.
Donald James, London;
and one son, Gordon
Rapson, R.R. 3 Clinton.
Also surviving are
sisters, Mrs. (Viola)
Frank Whitmore, and
Mrs. (Leona) Harold
Whitmore both of
Hamilton. She is
predeceased by two
sisters and one brother.
She is also survived by
six grandchildren and
two great grandchildren.
Funeral services were
held from the' Stiles
Funeral Chapel Goderich
on Wednesday. Interment
was in Clinton Cemetery.

spending several days
visiting her son-in-law
and daughter Mr. and
Mrs. Don Gooding and
Dale at Parkhill and also
visited with her grandson
and granddaughter -in-
law Mr. and Mrs. Don

at Strathroy.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flynn
were recent visitors with
their son-in-law and
daughter Mr. and Mrs.
Bill O'Brien and family at
Bridgen.
Mrs. T. Fletcher is a
patient in Stratford
Hospital where she is
receiving treatment.
A number of members
of the WMS of Carmel
Presbyterian Church
were guests of the WMS
and Barbara Kirkman
Auxiliary, at the First
Presbyterian Church,'
Seaforth on Tuesday
evening.
Mr. Ed Schroeder who
has been a patient in
South Huron Hospital
Exeter returned to his
home.
Church Time Change
Rev. Kenneth Knight
conducted service in
Carmel Presbyterian
Church on Sunday
speaking on the subject A
Doubter Convinced. Mrs.
Dorothy Taylor presided
at the organ Next Sun-
day, April 29; brings the
change to Daylight
Saving Time and the
service will be at 10:15
a.m. when Rev. A.C.
Young of Goderich will be
conducting the service.

Beautiful weather
again favored the annual
Dessert Euchre and bake
sale for Varna UCW .
There was a good variety
of luscious desserts and
plenty of home baking
offered.
If noise is an indication
of a good time, there
must have been some
pretty good card games.
Mary Broadfoot won the
prize for high score, Anna
Keys for the low. Mary
Broadfoot declined the
prize for most lone hands,
and it went to Mary
Ostrom: Door prizes were
won by Mrs. Smale of
Seaforth, Ida Dickert of
Kippen., Flossie Routzon
of Clinton, Ina Neeb of
Zurich, Mary Broadfoot
of Kippen, Elva Webster
of Varna, Esther Moffatt,

and Judy Erskine and
baby Heather, who are
living in Grant Webster's
house on the edge of the
village. Dave is em-
ployed With Agrico. He is
originally from Montreal
and Judy from
Ridgetown, but they
came here from Lesoto in
Africa where Dave was in
charge of the food aid
distribution program for
the United Nations.

employed for the past
month with a cement
contractor in Toronto.
