Janna and her sister Julie were supposed to help mom with the story, but Julie spent her time entertaining her younger sister while Bernie carried on with her reading."(News-Record photo) Goderich Twp. rec news by Audrey Middleton At the last regular Goderich Township recreation council meeting it was decided to appoint a separate sof- tball executive to manage the entire softball program for the summer of '79, subjected to the nod of approval from the recreation council. A list of rules to guide them was also set up. Last year's, now retired softball co- ordinator, Bev Orr, at- tended the initial meeting of the appointed softball executive to assist them in setting up plans for this year. The new executive is chairman, Del Schloendorf, secretary treasurer Pat Rivett, and Art Bell. Exciting and en- thusiastic plans were made especially with the prospects of a new playing field with lights, by late summer at the proposed sports complex. Rec. board faces land shortage The yearly problem of finding enough room for soccer and baseball play in Clinton was discussed by the rec committee at their April 12 meeting. Although no team schedules for minor ball or soccer have been completed yet, the town's committee is foreseeing a problem of lack of space for teams to practice and play. "Before we draw up any schedule we'll have to get more land," suggested)" new rec member Len Fawcett. "And where will we get it?" questioned Dennis Jewitt. "We'll have to designate some areas as playing fields and some for practice areas," Ron McKay suggested. Cleo Colquhoun noted that the public school diamond and the diamond at the Fish and Game area will have to be repaired. "The arena has the only two playable diamonds for games," she explained.
