Kippen maldelivery set back one hour

If the people on R.R. 3
and R.R. 2 are wondering
why the mail is so late in
being delivered, it is
because the mail now
arrives in Kippen one
hour or more late.
Naturally it cannot be
delivered at the usual
time.
Becky McCabe,
Clinton, entertained at a
shower for Lorie- Cam-
pbell, Blyth. Lorie is to be
the bride of Kevin Faber.
Kippen in the near future.
Mrs. Stan Jackson is a
patient in Seaforth
Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Wayne
McBride have returned
from a holiday in the
south.
Sympathy is extended
to the wife and family of
Stan Jackson, who passed
away suddenly this week.
The Faber family,
under the leadership of
Mrs. Russell Faber and
Mrs. Emerson Coleman,
held a shower honouring
Kevin Faber and his
bride-to-be, Lorie
Campbell on March 17.
The party was held in
the beautifully decorated
St. Patrick's Motif hall at
Huron Centennial School.
A mock wedding was
presented by Bev
Coleman as the bride,
Darlene Faber as the
groom ; Jerry Faber as
the Minister; Randy
Campbell as the
bridesmaid; Pam
Coleman as best man;

with Mrs. Berne
McKinley at the piano.
Mrs. Emerson
Coleman was chairman
and Mrs. Russell Faber
read the address which
was responded to by
Keven and Lorie.
A beautifully decorated
wagon of gifts was
presented by Susie
Campbell, Lisa Faber
and Angela Faber.
Lunch was available
during the program and
the opening of the gifts. A
sumptuous dinner was.
served to bring the
evening to a close.
St. Andrews UCW met
on Tuesday March 13,
when Mrs. Lloyd Cooper
took the theme for the
Worship, "Penitence".
Guest Speaker Elaine.
Townsend was in-
troduced by Mrs.
McMullen and spoke on
the handicapped. This
was a timely address for
the Year of the Child.
Mrs. Emerson Kyle
gave the story of the
Legend of the Blarney
Stone, and it was decided
to entertain April 10 and
the guest speaker will be
Kathy Pryde from Huron
County Family and
Children's Services.
Kippen accepted Zurich's
invitation for May 3.
Hostesses Mrs. Percy
Wright and Mrs. Art
McCallum served lunch.

Clinton council briefs
At their March 12
meeting, Clinton Council
noted that a special
committee of the whole
meeting was held on
March 5 to discuss the
Centennial park Sub=
division draft changes..
A motion was passed
accepting the new draft.

Council agreed to send
the public works
department foreman,
Harold Gibbings to the
Good."' Roads School in
Guelph. The classes will
be held from May 6-9.

Council accepted the
levies from the area
conservation authorities
and agreed to pay them.
The 1979 levy for the •
Maitland Valley Con-
servation Authority is
$843.24. The levy for the
Ausable-Bayfield Con-
servation Authority is
$5,024 or $4,652 if it is paid
before April 1.

Following a request
from Dennis Hallam, a._
letter was sent to him
explaining why he wasn't
accepted as the garbage
collector in Clinton. Mr.
Hallam was one of
several who applied for
the work. His tender was
the lowest.

Members of Clinton
Council have been invited
to a special open house
and tour of the Bell
Canada' facilities in
Clinton. The tour will be
held on April 17 at 7 p.m.

a diverse job. A com-

Armstrong were ap-
pointed to look after the
organization and
decoration of a float entry
for the Clinton Spring

councillors who attended
the Good Roads weekend
convention. The accounts

$451, plus $198.50 for
attending the new

issued to Morden and
Helwig at the cost of $15.

Council received
correspondence from the
Catholic Parent-Teacher
Association (CPTA)
asking for permission to
place a sign at the corner
of Whitehead and Albert
Streets to show the
location of St. Joseph's
Public School,. Council
okayed this request, as
long as the sign is
properly placed.

Clinton council are
approaching their in-
surance company to get
some clarification of
liability, following a
letter received from
Brant Bylsma.
Mr Bylsma wants the
town to pay $725 to
replace his belongings
damaged by water when
water seeped into his
basement on March 4
after a storm sewer froze.
"This winter it froze
where it never froze
before," Deputy Reeve
Ernie Brown noted.
Council was unsure
whether it was legal to
empty cellar drains into
storm sewers, or whether
the town could be
responsible for this.

Mayor Harold Lobb
told council that he would
like to see some changes
in the street lighting.
Mayor Lobb wants to see
new lights installed that
will conserve electricity.
He realized that the lights
would cost more money
to install, but in the long
run they would save
power.
"Put these lights on the
new streets," Councillor
Ron McKay said.
Council plans to discuss
the new lighting with the
PUC.

Mayor Lobb rioted, for
the press' benefit that the
snowblowers, recently
purchased for the town
wasn't bought from
Harold Lobb and Sons, as
printed in the 'News -
Record but H. Lobb and
Sons.
"I was upset about
that," he explained, "I
sold my part in the
business last fall."

included some discussion
were approved for O.
Kuenzig, new dwelling,
$52,000; G. Thomas,
addition, $16,000.

Council agreed to
cancel the purchase
agreement with Harold
White Homes and re -
advertise the sale of the
lot. Harold White Homes
purchased a lot on Fulton
Street from the town, but,
other than the $100 down
payment, no more has
been paid. The closing
date had earlier been
extended.
Seaforth core
improvement
The Huron Expositor
reported that the local
Chamber of Commerce is
concerned with the ap-
pearance of Seaforth's
downtown area.
Along with donating
$300 to the Horticultural
Society for plant boxes,
the group is considering
the government funded
business improvement
program for the down-
town area. Merchants in
Goderich and Exeter
have been looking into it.
The Chamber of
Commerce have also
decided to underwrite
some of the cost of the
surhmer band concerts
for July and August 1979.
