Helpful Hints Place a portable sewing machine on a piece of foam rubber, about an inch and a half thick and two inches wider than the machine base. The pad will prevent the machine from "walking", absorbs vibration, and makes a good pin cushion. When making infante clothes that are buttoned to the hemline, attach an extra button. under the hem for use when the garment is lengthened. A small magnet kept in your sewing box will be useful for picking up pins that fall on the floor, and for picking up stray pins in the bottom of the box. Store spools of thread in an egg carton.
