Goderich Township council hears subdivision delegations
Two bylaws were
passed when Goderich
Township Council met on
February 19.
Bylaw number 1, 1979,
a bylaw to provide land
use and building
restrictions on part lot 36,
concession 1 (proposed.
Plan of Subdivision), was
passed after three
readings and bylaw
number 2, 1979, a bylaw
to provide a tile drain
debenture on one owner,
was also passed after
three readings.
Mr. and Mrs. Hartman
were present at the
council meeting to
request a building permit
for an addition to a
commercial operation.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam ways
were also present at the
meeting to discuss their
proposed plan of sub-
division on lot 40, con-
cession 1. No motions
were recorded regarding

It was decided that Bill
Crawford and Ken Scott
would go to the local TV
station to see about ad-
vertising this event.
Mrs. Allan Craig urged
all local people to buy
their souvenirs early as a
limited amount will be
ordered and that they will
be better prepared at the
end of Jiune.
Also in regards to t -
shirts, if you wish a
certain colour and size,
please order early so you
will not be disappointed.
Ms. McLaughlin spoke
on the coming birthday
celebrations that Auburn
residents have planned
and gave some details
which could be carried
out in the heritage
programs.

LIONS CLUB
Homecare and Town
and Country
Homemakers was the
topic for Mrs. Betty
Cardno of Seaforth when
she spoke to the Auburn
and District Lions Club
last Wednesday evening.
Mrs. Cardno, nurse
administrator at the
Clinton Huron County
Health Unit, described
how homecare provides
health care at home to
selected patients ac-
cording to their in-
- dividual needs. She told
who was eligible to
receive this care and
what services are
available and how it is
financed.
Mrs. Cardno also told
about the homemaking
\services available and
stressed that the
homemaker or
homehelpers will respect
the privacy, dignity and
other rights of the per-
sons in the home in which
they are providing the
service.
Mrs. Cardno had been
introduced by Lion Bill
Crawford and thanked by
Lion Bill Robertson and
presented with a gift.
The resident, Lion

The Lions Club members
also had their ladies
present for dinner and the
meeting.
The minutes were
_approved as read:by the
secretary, Lion Bob •
Worsell. Lion Jim
Schneider gave the
financial statement.
Correspondence was read
as well as a letter about
the youth exchange this
coming summer. Anyone
wishing to host young
people, please contact the
president at once.
The sheepskin rug
donated by Mrs. • Beth
Lansing was won by Mrs.
Bud Chamney. The 50-50'
draw was won by Jim
Glousher. Mrs. Betty
Cardno made the draw.
The wheelchair had
been loaned to a local
citizen. This is a service
made available by the
club to anyone in need.
4-H NEWS
Auburn I 4-H club, the
Toucher Uppers, met for
their sixth meeting at the
home of their leader,
Mrs. Donald Cartwright.
The president, Patti
McDowell opened with
the 4-H pledge.
The roll call was an-
swered by describing
their favorite piece of
jewellery and why?
The theme of the
meeting was gloves and
Mrs. Cartwright
demonstrated measuring
hands for the proper size
of gloves, their selection
and care.
Everyone brought their
materials and patterns
for their accessories,
hats, caps, ties and
shawls.
Plans were started for
Achievement Day which
will be held at Lon-
desboro on May 7.
Mrs. Cartwright served
lunch. The meeting
closed with the 4-H motto.
Sorry that it was left
out of the report of the
fourth and fifth meetings.
Mrs. Verbeek served, a
delicious lunch.
Hats and purses are a
decorative accessory to
your wardrobe; was the
discussion at Auburn 2, 4-
H club when they held
their fourth meeting at
the home of the leader.

different types of scar-
ves.
In the discussion on
purses and shoes, in-
formation on how to buy
them and care for them
was outlined. Everyone
did a slip stitch sample
for their books.
The meeting was closed

present at the meeting to
finalize details of the

division and council
passed a motion that
B.M. Ross be engaged as
the township engineer for
the S.A.M. project.
Council passed a
motion that the township
proceed with the con-
struction of the Deeves
bridge in 1979.
Council instructed the
clerk to contact C. Kiar in
an effort to speed up the
survey 'of the new park.
Council then passed a
motion that the Reeve
and the chairman of the
recreation committee be
appointed to supervise
laying out and con-
structing the ',playing
fields for the park.
Building permits were
issued by council to Larry
Holmesville "Eye catchers " looping

The third meeting of
the "Eye Catchers" 4-H
Club was held March I, at
the home of their leader
Mrs. Bev.' Van Ninhuys
where discussion on
selection and care of
scarves was held, and the
many ways to tie and
wear a scaftf. The leaders
demonstrated the cutting
and sewing a bias scarf.
The fourth meeting of
the "Eye Catchers" was
held March 5th at the
home of Mrs. Olga Bell.
The selection and care of
purses and shoes was
discussed. The over
stuffing of a purse was
also discussed and the
members had a great
time emptying their
purses. Work was also
done on their accessories.
The next meeting will
be held March 8th at the
home of Mrs. Bev Van
Ninhuys.-by Cathy Van

held Sunday morning at
9:45 at the Holmesville
United Church with a

meet March 12 at 1:30 in
the Township Hall.
There will be a card
party in the Holmesville
School Thursday evening
at 8 p.m., sponsored by
the Women's Institute.
