Some helpful hints to keep a
married -size wardrobe fresh
An ,unwritten part of
today's marriage contract
is the sharing of responsi-
bilities. Hopefully, you'll
be marrying a man who
will do more than just
throw out the garbage to
help with the household
chores, but chances are
the traditional woman's
task of doing the laundry
will remain your responsi-
bility.
To cope with the in-
creased two person vol-
ume of laundry as well as
the tough stains men can
manage to get on their
clothes, without an in-
crease in your time and
effort, learn to streamline
your routine with effective
methods, products and
procedures.
Many stains and soils ,
just will not wash out with
detergent alone. To wash
away the most stubborn
soil and stain problem's,
pretreat clothes with
Spray 'n Wash's laundry
soil and stain remover.
Just spray it on soil and
tough stains, wait 60 sec-
onds and then launder
clothes in the 'usual way
with your regular deter-
gent.
If your husband -to -be
wears heavy-duty clothes,
it's also a good idea to
wash these items sepa-
rately from delicate ward-
robe items.
Fine washables are best
cleaned by a gentle cycle
to keep them' looking' their
best, and the rough agita-
tion of work clothes could
possibly damage them.
Always check the per-
manent care labels sewn
into clothes by manufac-
turers for the proper
water temperature before
washing any garment.
Laundering clothes in the
wrong wash temperature
can cause them to shrink
or fade.
Generally, whites should
be washed in hot water;
colors and fine washables
• in cold water; and perma-
nent press, wash and wear
fabrics in warm water.
Clean laundry is just
one part of the marriage
partnership; don't let it
• be a reason for going '
home to mother's.

Budgeting for two
Every little bit helps when
it comes to balancing the
budget. And if you're newly
married, you're no doubt
feeling the pinch of rising
costs on everyday neces-
sities as well as on the "big"
things you need for your new
life together.
The beauty experts at
Helene Curtis suggest that
you watch your personal care
spending carefully so that
you can put more of your dol-
lars towards the other things
the two of you will share.
For instance, take the time,.,.
to comparison shop for per-
sonal items. You'll be sur-
prised at the differences in
price. And you won't have to
purchase poor quality mer-
chandise in order to save.
There are major brand-name
items available, such as the
Suave line of 'personal care
products, that offer quality as
well as an economical price.
Check several stores and
compare prices. Don't forget
to look on the grocery store
shelves for your grooming
needs. They can often supply
the kind of product you want
and at a good price. A careful
search of newspapers will
produce cents -off coupons
that can save you even more.
Your best buys are the
large economy sizes, espe-
cially since now that there
are two of you, you'll need
more of everything. Suave
Balsam & Protein Shampoo
and Conditioner are just the
kind of products you should
be looking for. They're per-
fect for both men and women
since they leave every hair
type healthy, shiny and easy
to manage.
Another way to share -
and -save is with anti-
perspirants. Again, ypu
should shop for a quality
name brand that offers the
kind of protection you need
at the savings you deserve.
Hand creams, body lo-
tions, shaving creams and
razor blades are other per-
sonal care items that can be
bought -for -two. One thing
about toothpaste—it's not
worth breaking up a marriage
over: If he's a "squeezer"
and you're a "roller," buy
two!
Every young couple
should start off their mar-
riage right, by developing
sound money -managing
habits that will stay with
them throughout their lives
together. One of the least
noticed but easiest ways is by
sharing your everyday per-
sonal care items. And buying
the best quality at the most
economical price.
