Your Wedding Portrait
If you'll soon be facing
the camera for your en-
gagement or wedding por-
traits, here are helpful
recommendations.
Don't wear heavy make-
up! It has.a harsh and aging
effect. Since an engaged girl
or the bride should look
fresh and natural, be care-
ful about using exaggerated
cosmetic techniques. It is
the fastest way to date the
photograph.
For a smooth, soft, dewy
look, apply a rinse -off cold
cream before making up for
a lightly emollient base.
Then specialists suggest that
you wear medium -tone
foundation and powder, and
a medium shade of lipstick,
accented with lip gloss for
sheen. Don't apply very pale
lipstick for a picture. It
won't show up.
Little tricks can fool the
camera. For instance, you
can camouflage laugh and
frown lines and blemishes by
covering them with white
liner or shadow stick. Then
blend with fingertips, and
powder as usual.
To give a broad nose an
aquiline appearance, apply a
darker foundation on each
side, blencjJ g thoroughly to
avoid too "song a shadow.
To shorten a long nose,
blend in a bit of darker
foundation at the nose tip.
And if features are less -
than -perfect, try posing with
your face at a slight angle to
the camera, with head up
and chin lifted.
Eyes laden with false
lashes and over -stated styl-
ing are not suitable for a bri-
dal portait.
Be especially artful in ap-
plying eye make-up if you
wear glasses. The lenses of
your glasses enlarge the eye
area, so you need the barest
minimum of definition. In
most cases, the frames of
,your glasses will provide
enough emphasis.
For relaxed, graceful
hands, try a trick that the
models use. Before the pic-
ture is snapped, lift both
hands high into the air to
ease tension and minimize
prominent veins. Then re-
turn hands to position and
clasp them lightly, slightly
angled for a slender look.
Repeat this procedure often.
A Pantry Shower
Linen showers, lingerie
showers, spice showers,even
miscellaneous showers ...
showers for a few close
friends or for as many as 25
or 50. Brides are honored
every month of the year.
But, in spite of all the show-
ers, many a bride-to-be finds
her linen and silver chests
filled to capacity while other
new home "musts" still re-
main on the "Much Want-
ed and Needed" list.
Why not surprise the next
bride-to-be by throwing a
pantry shower? It's. not only
fun to give, but the gifts are
extremely useful and prac-
tical. The presents may be as
varied as your pantry shelf
— from staples like flour,
sugar and spices to canned
and convenience foods.
