Clinton arena floor fund gets X1,400. boost
The Clinton Kinsmen
will be giving about $1,400
to the . arena floor fund,
thanks to a very suc-
cessful Las Vegas night
at the Clinton arena last
Saturday.
About 300 ladies and
gentlemen packed the
auditorium to pay games
of chance using play
money, and to bid on over
$1,000 worth of mer-
chandise donated by
Clinton and area mer-
chants.
The Las Vegas night is
a left -over from the now
defunct Winter Carnival,
but it and Hospitality
night two weeks ago were
both big successes.
Kinsmen organizers
Tom Craig and John
Kassies said they were
extremely pleased with
the support shown the
event by area citizens
and businessmen.
Prizes auctioned off by
auctioneer Richard Lobb,
who donated his services,
included: Haugh Tire,
front end alignment;
Paul's BP, oil change and
lube job; Clinton
Chrysler, four T-shirts;
Kingswell Welding, 'fire
extinguisher; Home
Hardware, Radio Shack,
French teacher Terry Pullen seems a little hesitant
about trying the pancakes made by the students at
St. Joe's, but members of the kindergarten class
can hardly wait to see what he thinks of "les
crepes". Learning the French word for pancakes

At the Legion

A beautiful week for •us
again as` our Legion
activities perk up once
mare.
The week commenced
with our executive board
meeting on Monday
evening last week at
which Comrade Stan Batt
was appointed as tem-
porary building chair-
man, and further, many
problem solving solutions
were offered and are
being acted upon,
Tuesday evening our
Men's Euchre was again
active with Mel Webster,
who replaced Bert
Garrett winning the top
score honors with an 89, a
near perfect score.
Comrade Don Armstrong
came up with the low
score of 42,. and three
participants tied for the
most lone hands.
Our Thursday night
bingo was again back to
its normal attendance
and the $200 jackpot was
won by one of our regular

While bingo was active
in the .auditorium, the
Thursday night dart club
was again active with
Valerie and Terry
Hollinshead taking the
winning pairs prize, High
single score for the men
went to Comrade George
Yeats with a ton score
and high single score for
(the ladies went to
Comrade Annie Sallows
who also got a ton score. I
must apologize to
Comrade Annie, Sallows
for calling Comrade
Doris Chambers the
president of our Ladies
Auxiliary in my last
article. You're the
president of our Ladies
Auxiliary Comrade
Annie, and no doubt about
it, a good one.
Our dart teams A and B
were busy last Saturday
afternoon competing in
the Huron County Dart
League Tournament at
the Exeter Legion. Team
A won 8 out of a possible
12 games, while team B
won 9 out of a possible 12
games. I'd say, 'hearty
congratulation's. to our
two dart teams.
TGIF is slowly
regaining its attendance
as a pleasant evening was
enjoyed by all who at-
tended last Fridays TGIF
night. Cotnrade Eric
Switzer was the lucky
fellow who won the
goodies of the raffle
draw, but the attendance
draw went unclaimed as
Comrade Muriel Beyers
had failed to register, so
once again the pot grows
and will be up for grabs at
the next Friday's TGIF
evening.
The men held the
membership meeting on
Monday evening and
although not many
members were present, it
was an active and
productive session for our
Legion, after which an
enjoyable lunch was
provided by the staff.
