The ladies opened the meeting with song and Hattie Wood ac- companied at the piano. President Marjorie Duizer read a poem and welcomed the guests present from the church • units. Roll call was an- swered, with the mem- bers telling about their first date or a song with the word love in it. The program included a duet by Lisa Bosman and Lori Jewitt, they were then joined by Kelly Bosman and Scott Jewitt, accompanied by Barbara Bosman. Bonnie Jewitt and Barbara Bosman also sang a number. The minutes of the January meeting and the treasurer's report were read .by the secretary - treasurer, Marjorie Anderson. Correspondence in- cluded thank -you notes from Jim Neilans, Vi Burns and Annie Leitch. The officers conference will be held in Waterloo on May 1-3. The Tweedsmuir curator, Helen Lawson will be Londesboro's delegate. It was noted that the dairy princess, Jean Siertsema will be available to speak to the WI. A letter from president Diamond stressed 1979 projects. The West Huron annual executive meeting will be held on April 2 at 1:30 p.m. in Dungannon. The WI quilt is nearly finished and a draw will be made on it iri June. Tickets are 50 cents each or three for $1. Addie flunking and June Fothergill are in charge of the nominating committee. . Helen Lawson and Marjorie Duizer will look after the Sunshine Sister banquet and the February 23 card party will be charged by Isabel Colson, Hattie Snell and Annie Vincent. On • March 23, Ruth Vincent, Ora Bruce and Beth Knox will look after the card party: The WI agreed to donate $300 to the recreation committee for the use of the hall. They also decided to approach the rec committee with the . possibility of renovating the hall as a 1979 project. Beryl Reid _introduced Rev. Wayne Gord of Blyth as the guest speaker. He is a retired missionary who now has services at the Huron Chapel in Auburn. He was in . the Middle East in January 1978. As part of his talk, Rev. Gord had several articles on display and showed films and slides on village life in Nigeria. This was enjoyed by the ladies and he was thanked and presented with a gift by Joan Middegaal. After Ruth Vincent sang a solo, the meeting closed and an auction was conducted by Marjorie Duizer. The draw was won by Hattie Snell and lunch was served by Marjorie Duizer, Dora Shobbrook, Elma Jewitt and Joyce Kennedy. WI members. attending the Clinton WI card party on Wednesday night included Nona Pipe, Myrtle Fairservice, Addie Hunking, Margaret Taylor and Dora Shob- brook. Remember Iron- desboro's card party on Friday, February 23. United Church Mr. Robert Elliott of Clinton was the guest speaker at the Lon- desboro United Church on Sunday morning. The congregation was greeted in the sanctuary by Garnet Wright and the ushers were Steven Bromlet, Wayne Hulley, Danny Jewitt and Mark Mitchell. The organist was Louise McGregor and the choir director was Ruth Shaddick. The junior teachers were Barbara Bosman and Joan Whyte. Rev. Harold Snell of Exeter will be the guest minister on February 25.
