Parents group still needs support
The meeting of the
leaders of Brownies,
Cubs, Guides and Scouts,
group committee and
interested parents was
held February 11 t at the
Vanastra Recreation
Centre.
This meeting was
better attended than the
last one but the groups
still need more support.
We decided to continue
having these, one a
month, so we can keep
people informed on what
we are doing. Also we
wish to hear more from
the parents and their
ideas on the types of
outings and fund-raising
ideas they have been
having or intend to have.
They finished
arrangements for the pot
luck supper on February
18th ' at 4 p.m. in the
Recreation Centre. There
will also be en-
tertainment performed
by all groups and possibly
the leaders.
Plans were made for
attending the Church
Parade with the Clinton
groups to be held at St.
Joseph's Catholic Church
in Clinton on Sunday,
February 18th at 11 a.m.
It was decided to meet at
the Recreation Centre at
10:15 a.m. and to travel
on the bus which comes to
Vanastra every Sunday.
There was another talk
on fund-raising with such
ideas ,as a dance-a-thon,
walk-a-thon or a garbage
cleanup coming forward,
It was also put forward
that we have a hot dog
stand in the Lions spring
fair scheduled for June
16. This seems the best
idea and we will ap-
proach the Lions Club on
this.
The committee was
picked and has agreedto
work together on the
projects. The people who
will work with our Group
Committee are Esther
Handy and Christine
Freriks co-ordinators,
June Tomkins as; our go-
between with the
Recreation Centre and
Moira Robinson as phone
co-ordinator. We wish to
thank these people for
their support and wish
them luck in their en-
deavours.
The next meeting is to
be held on April 1st at the
Recreation Centre at 2
p.m. Hope to see you

they donate, they will
receive a small paper
heart. They will be able to
pin their heart to the tree.
The money raised in this
way will be sent to the
Canadian Save The
Children Fund and will be
.used to make life a little
bit better for a child in
Korea, Kenya or India.

If you're expecting income in a lump sum
(say,, from a Registered Pension Plan or a
Deferred Profit Sharing Plan or as a
Retiring Allowance) you'can expect to be
taxed in a lump as well!. Sobering thought
isn't it! Besides, wouldn't a life income be
,more useful to you than a lump sum?
You can kill two birds with one stone
convert the lump sum into a life" income
and save a bundle in taxes now, by using
Sun Life's transfer of funds arrangement.
The turnip sum the taxman didn't get will
be put to work for you, and you'll be taxed
only as the income is psid. Give me a call.
