One of the hazards of fighting fire in the wintertime in' the country is going
down narrow lanes that have deep snow on either side. This was the case last
Tuesday afternoon at the Chris Guetter farm when the Clinton tanker truck got
stuck. But, in just a few'minutes using a complex system of pulleys, Harvey
Carter and his wrecker had the truck back on the road. (News -Record photo)

The Huron Expositor
reported that another
local man will receive
special recognition in the
town of Seaforth.
Ralph (Cooney)
Weiland, an Egmondville
native who was a
linesman for the Boston
Bruins, coached the
Harvard University
hockey team for 21 years
and was nominated to the
Hockey Hall of Fame will
receive recognition in his
home.
Clive Buist, Seaforth's
recreation director hopes
that a new trophy case
which will be added to the
arena can be named after
Cooney Weiland. It is
planned that the case will
hold artifacts and
souvenirs of the hockey
player's career.
Mr. Weiland, who now
lives in the eastern
United States, played
NHL hockey for 11 years
with the Bruins, the
Detroit Red Wings and
the old Ottawa Senators
team.
He :played in two
Stanley Cup games,
coached the Bruins to
another championship in
1941 and is remembered
in the record books for
scoring 43 goals in 44
games in one NHL year.

does Mr. Barney continually quote to
me from theories and traditions? Also,
how can a student of Biblical studies
ignore theories and traditions? Are
they not in fact, the backbone of
Scripture? Is it not a fact that much of
Scripture was tradition handed down
by the Hebrew ,people, for some two
thousand years;•or so, before they were
committed t0 writing? Perhaps Mr.
Barney had better define his terms of
reference.

He demanded the

Finally; I conclude with this passage,
"To wit, that GOD WAS IN CHRIST,
reconciling the world unto himself, not
imputing their trespasses unto
them...." (II Corinthians 5:19 K.J.V.)

P.S.: re letter of Mr. Barney, of Feb.
1, 1979. I am baffled by how the writer
equates "Hebrew Scriptures" with the
vernacular (English) . The Hebrew
Scriptures are those books that were
canonically approved by the Council of
Jamnia, around 100 A.D. Is it possible
that what Mr. Barney is talking about
are the "TRANSLATIONS" of the
HebrewScriptures?
