The dec1 ion•was made Tuesday to, increase the rate for each meeting • from $15 to $20. At thea, January meeting, the council agreed to $15, however, before the bylaw covering the rate was passed Tuesday, Marie Hicknell-, the new member on council said the rate was low com- pared to that paid by other municipalities. She made the motion that it be raised to $20. This will be paid to council members at special council meetings, fire board meetings, hospital board meetings and others. Council also approved a motion giving a11. members of council, the clerk and the road superintendent an allowance of $200 each plus registration fees for one convention if they attend it during the year. Council approved payment of the mem- bership fee of $50• to the Association of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers. Councillor Hicknell asked to be sent to the Drainage Commissioners Seminar in Guelph from April 4-6 and the clerk asked to be sent from April 2-4. A grant of $15 will be paid to the Huron County Historical Society and a grant of $50 to, the Huron Plowmen's .Association Approved for payment were road accounts amounting to $17,166.41 and general accounts of, $11,412.74. It was reported that the tax arrears are close to $1,000 which is about the same as last year at thiE time. Councillor Iicknell gave a detailed account of her attendance` at the seminar for first time members of councTh as well she. gave reports of the tour she was given'at' the. Seaforth Community Hospital as a new board member. She is McKillop's represen- tative on the board. She also reported on the first meeting of the board that she attended. Hullett ,happening: Grade 8 have visitor On Wednesday, January, 25 some of ,the grade 8 students had a visitor. Mrs. Smith from Central Huron Secondary School was the. visitor. She talked about the grade 9 course of study for next year for the grade 8's who will be attending Clinton High School. Grade 7 excursion On Friday, January 26, the grade 7 class went on a cookout to the bush. They left about 9:15 on snowshoes and skis. Once back there, the pupils divided into groups of three or four and started to, make a fire. After the meals were cooked, the students went on'a poker rally. After the poker- rally the pupils went tobogganing. They came back at 3:05. Everyone learned survival method$ and enjoyed the trip' very much. .
