By
Milena Lobb
As I try to gather some
news for the paper this
week, I realize due to
storms and being a bit
occupied with getting the
Ladies' Spiel at the
Seaforth Curling Club on
the 24th in order, I have
neglected my job so far
this year. Sorry Jim.
YES this community
did go places and did
have visitors over the
holidays but that news
was delayed getting to
town thanks to a snow
storm. My telephone
hasn't been very busy
with news coming to me
so I will have to go after
it. A few of the visitors
around over the holiday
season did come quite a
distance to be' with their
families - Gary Tebbutt
from Edmonton, Gerald
Tebbutt, wife Shirley and
Gregory and Wendy from
Iowa, and Carl Feagan
and family from British
Columbia.
Norene Tebbutt was
hostess for the Com-
munity, Club meeting
which was held after a
few hesitant moments
and the decision to go
ahead brought a good
turn -out in spite of the
snow squalls, colds and
flu.
The "pot -luck" dinner
was more than any of us
needed after the holiday
feasting, but was cer-
tainly enjoyed by the 14
members and one visitor.
President Milena Lobb
opened the meeting with
a poem "Passing
Thoughts" followed by
the Creed and The Lord's
Prayer. Roba Lobb,
assistant secretary, read
the minutes of the
December meeting and
treasurer Norene Tebbutt
read her report. The
annual reports followed
and- we discovered we
had a successful and busy
year in 1978.
In December, our club
adopted a person at
quronview and Harriett
Tyndall reported on her
visit with the lady and
what we had given her for
Christmas. We hope we
helped brighten her
holiday season. Since the
new president Madeline
Bartlett was absent, she
couldn't take charge of
•
the meeting. The new
treasurer, Linda Jones
was also absent and
couldn't be handed the
books so the past
president and past
treasurer completed
their jobs at the end of the
meeting. The new
secretary, Roba Lobb
was already doing her job
but these three will be
installed in their new
roles at the February
meeting.
Phyllis Thompson will
hold the February.
meeting in her home in
the afternoon on
February 7 when a quilt
will be set up to work on.
The meeting closed with
the Benediction and as
soon as the weather
cleared, everyone left
and arrived home safely.
Since we now -have `lolls
of snow, the snowmobiles
are buzzing around and
quite a few cross-country
skiers are, out enjoying
the trails.
Mrs. Gerald Allen Sr. of
Toronto, Gerald Allen Jr.
and Judy of Sarnia
visited with Don and
Alison Lobb last week.
They took time to try the
trails via snowmobile and
skis.
Last Saturday Bill and
I travelled to Belmore
with Jim and Anne
Cunningham, Clinton, to
a Curling Spiel. We didn't
miss the trophy by very
many points as we had to
go into an extra end and
then lost. The pork chops
and ham which we won
are going to taste pretty
good.
