We would talk more about it - but when you've seen one snow drift, you've seen them all. It's just part of a Canadian winter. + + + Your oil tank at home or your gas tank in the car gets filled up and you shake your head as you see the figures climb. After watching the half hour interview on Tuesday evening's TV with Sheikh Ahmed Zaki Yamani of Saudi Arabia, one felt one had just completed a crash course -in- the why's and wherefore's of this golden commodity so vital to our western style of living. And if worrying about oil costs makes you uneasy - Yamani's life is not trouble-free either - for as stated h.. lives with, the constant possibility of being assassinated'. + + + Marie and Gary Black and son Jeffrey of RR4 Clinton are back after flying to Victoria to spend Christmas "with Marie's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Johnston, formerly of Clinton. While, . in Victoria. they also visited -with Dr. Mowatt, former minister of Wesley -Willis United Church. After Christmas they motored to California - saw Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, Universal Studios and Tijuana, Mexico then ,back to Victoria before returning to Clinton. + + + The Madeleine Lane Auxiliary of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church held its January meeting on the eleventh of the month at the home of Mrs. Elva Mutch, Joseph Street. On Tuesday of this week he brought into the office three snapshots and an advertisement ® found in the old walls. The advertisement was on a post card size piece of paper for Perry's Peerless Players ap- pearing December _5 --in ® the Clinton Opera House. Unfortunately, there was g no year after the date. The play was entitled, "Belle of the Post". Also ® uncovered in one of the ® walls was a $1 milk ticket from E. B. Hill and was good for, read this and weep, 33. pints of milk!! So, figuring milk at 66 cents a quart today - that milk ticket would cost us in the • neighbourhood of $10.56., • Mr. Brand also told us that on the walls of the house there were copies of the Clinton New Era for 1871 - that is four years previous to when our records start here in the News -Record office.
