1979 was held on January
10. President Marjorie
Duizer welcomed
read a poem. .Ro11 call

members, who told of a
.new year's resolution
they'd already broken.
After thariks were
given to the Sunshine
Sisters for their gifts, the
November and December
minutes and the financial
statement were read by
the secretary Marjorie
Anderson.
Communications in-
cluded a thank you note
from the Christmas gifts
sent to the shut-ins in-
cluding Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Shaddick, Mr. and Mrs.
Alf Buchanan, Howard
Clark, Alex Dark, Mrs.
Lat'ra Saundercock, Mrs.
Fairey, Jack Snell, Bert
Shobbrook, Nelson Lear,
Mrs. T. Kncix, Mrs. Ida
Townsend and Mrs.
Myrtle Fairservice.
There were 26 shut-ins
remembered.
A letter concerning the
needlepoint craft was
read. It was decided that
the leaders Alice
Buchanan and Marjorie
Anderson or Marjorie
Duizer should attend
classes in Clinton on
February 19 and 21.
The WI project is to
make a quilt and sell
tickets on it. Hattie Wood
and Hazel Reid volun-
teered to set up the quilt
at the home of Marg -
Anderson.
Laurel and Lisa Duizer
entertained the . ladies
with two duets, ac-
companied by Barbara
Bosman at the piano.
A card party will be
held on Friday, January
26. Jessie Tebbritt, Hazel
Reid and Florence
Cartwright will be in
charge.
Romana Jamieson
introduced two films, one
on Ruth Stout's garden
and the 'other about Joe
Jacobs from an Indian
reserve. A stone carver
show was given by Jim
Jamieson. These were
enjoyed by all and Trudy
Pollard thanked him and
presented him with a gift.
Nona Pipe gave a
reading and •Marjorie
Duizer conducted a
contest on food labels.
The draw was won by
Mrs. Pollard.
The meeting then
closed and lunch was
served by Mrs. Pollard,
Barbara Bosman and
Ruth Vincent.
WI card party
There were nine tables
in play on Friday night
for the card party.
The winners included:
ladies' high, Nona Pik;
men's high, Gordon'
Murray; ladies' low,
Addie Hunking; men's
low, Don Buchanan; lone
hands, Elsie Shaddick
and Ted Hunking.
Genevieve Allen,
Romana Jamieson and
Florence Cartwright
were in charge.
The next card party
will be held on Friday,
January 26.,
Church news
Over 50 ventured out in
the stormy weather on
Sunday morning to attend
the church service at
Londesboro United.
Lorne Bunking greeted
the congregation and the
ushers were Bob
Jamieson, and Neil
Cartwright. The choir
was under the direction of
Ruth Shaddick 'With
Louise McGregor at the
organ.
The junior teachers
were Cathy McDougall
and Lena Nesbitt. Rev.
Stan McDonald was in
charge of the service.
Remember the annual
congregational meeting
to be held on Monday,
January 22 with a pot
luck supper at 6:55 pm.
Explorer meeting
The seventn t.xpiorer
Expedition was held on
January 11 with 18 girls
present.
Cdrinie Hoggart and
Cheryl Bromley
presented the emblem
and Debbie Piseiztator
presented the picture.
Mrs. Wright gave a
lesson and the group then
held the election of of-
ficers for the second half
of the year.
