Mr. Harold Whyte spent the Christmas holidays with his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Whyte and girls of Glen Orchard. Mrs. Ella Jewitt of Seaforth held Christmas for her family on December 24. Those attending from this area were Mr. and Mrs. John Jewitt and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Prpszcator and family. Mr. Hugh Dimaline was able to be home from the hospital for Christ- mas, getting out on Friday, December 22. Mr. and Mrs. Marris Bos and family; Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sanders, Jennifer and Jeffery of RR4 Brussels; Mr. and „Mrs. Ed Wammes, Mark and Ronnie of RR2 Seaforth; Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Brindley and Ricki • of Hollyrood; and Mr. and Mrs. John Wammes, Teresa and Brian visited during Christmas Day with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Wammes. Mr. and Mrs. Andy Thompson of Oakville, Mr. and Mrs. Terence Hunter of Colborne Township, Mr. Clarence Bennett of Goderich, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson and Leisa were Christmas visitors with Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson, Sharon and Bob. John Scott of Guelph University spent the holidays with his mother, Mrs. Mary Scott and David. Several from the community . attended the +++ The Mitchell Advocate reported last week that it was a "wet" day in Logan Township last week as 526 residents approved the sale of spirits, beer and wine in the municipality. Only 23 people rejected the plebiscite's" question, which asked whether voters approved the sale of liquor under -a dining room licence for con- sumption on a licenced premises where food is available. The number of people who voted represented about 35 per cent of the 1,590 people eligible to vote in the township. + + -I- Wingham, 1979 was started off on a happy note when a crowd of more than 200 people attended the Mayor's Centennial Levee. To get in the spirit for the '" year's birthday celebrationsin town, residents who were at the levee dressed in cen- t enni.al costume, registered for the August 1-6 centennial week, and entered the beard, growing contest. The next IQO birthday event to follow the levee is a centennial cross country ski tour on January 13 from Blyth and Belgrave to Wingham. Miss Trudy Dimaline of Hamilton, Miss Kathy Dimaline of Toronto and Miss Diane Deweerd spent Christmas Day and the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Dimaline, Don, Peter and David. Peter and David Dimaline spent a few days of the holidays with their sisters in Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Dave Hope, Julie and Miss Trudy Dimaline. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Preszcator and family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Preszcator and family and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Dillon and Michelle at- tended the family gathering held at their parents' home, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Preszcator of Seaforth on Saturday, December 23. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Stnale of Seaforth spent Sunday, December 24 with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Preszcator and family. Mr. and Mrs. George Mcllwain, Lynn and Steven of Stratford; Mr. and Mrs. Jack, Crozier, 'Brian, Paul, Kevin and Lori of Huron Ridge, Kincardine and Mrs. George Mcllwain Sr. attended the family gathering held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Merner, Sandy, Julie, Michael and Shelley on December 24. Family night Foresters Family Night was held on Wednesday evening, December 27 with about 60 people sitting down to a pot luck supper. A program followed the supper with Marjorie Anderson as master -of ceremonies for the evening. Sandy and Julie Merner gave a Christmas reading, and Bill Jewitt and Mary Lou_Anderson played two selections on the horns, while the Bos family gave a number and Sharon Bos gave a recitation. Jane Anderson played the piano, Michael Preszcator gave a recitation, Mary Lou Anderson played the piano, and Ella Jewitt favoured by playing on the piano Star of the East and Away in a Manger. Carolyn and John Thompson showed slides of their trip to Inuvik where they visited with their daughter, son -in- law and family. Treats were given t� all the children. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Preszcator and family visited- on Saturday, December. 30 with her brother Mr. and Mrs. Ron Brady of Egmondville. Mr. and Mrs. John Thompson and Bob, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Thompson and Leisa visited on Thursday evening December 28 with Miss Grace Hunter of Goderich. • Mr. and Mrs. John Jewitt and ,family en - tertained the Jewitt family at their home on New Year's Day.
