Group formed
Town hall may be renovated
The Bayfield Village
Council met on Monday
night. The agenda was
long and the meeting
lasted until midnight:
Deliberations were
held regarding the
opening of the three new
subdivisions, by
Ducharme, Fraser and
Godbolt. Mr. Burns Ross,
Village Consulting
eng neer, was present
and advised concerning
,road allowances,
drainage requirements,
water supplies, access to
public roads, etc. He
expressed concern that
the problem has not been
dealt with regarding the
Ducharme drain which
crosses Tuyll Street and
threatens a wash-out of
the street in the spring.
The Village Clerk was
advised to send a
registered letter giving
Ducharme ten days to
correct the problem.
The New Horizons
group formed to renovate
the Town Hall was
present and the chairman
Harry Baker addressed
the council voicing
doncern regarding a
letter sent to the Ever
Young Senior Citizens
from the council, asking
for a joint meeting before
any work is commenced.
It was explained that
there has been' misun-
derstanding on the part of
the council' as to the
administration of the
funds now available .for
renovation that the
group responsible is not
the senior citizens, but
the New Horizons group.
Ed Offliefson, co -
'chat irman with Harry
Baker, stressed that
immediate action is
necessary, 'if the group is
to take advantage of the
labor available from the
building training class at
Conestoga College.
Council agreed to meet
with the New Horizons
group at any time and
decided -that it " is im-
portant for its LACAC
committee to be present
at the meeting, since the
Town Hall, which. is
owned by the village, is
within the Main Street
area proposed for
heritage designation,
In the correspondence
received was a letter
from the Conklin Lumber
Company notifying the
village that a donation of
$5,000 would be made to
the Arena Building Fund.

The fund raising attempts for the new Bayfield
arena took a jump this week with two major
donations. This boosts the total donated to some
$50,000. Word from Wintario is expected next week

NDP executive is mailing
the following letter to
citizens of the Bayfield
area:
We think that the
citizens of Saskatchewan
knew what they were
doing in their recent
provincial election! By
returning Premier
Blakeney and the New
Democratic Party to
power with an increased
majority, they, demon-
strated a real satisfaction
with their government.
And that's unusual in
Canada today!
Perhaps it's because of
"good" government. --
Government -with sound
policies for health, taxes,
senior citizens, etc.
We think that these are
good reasons for citizens
in Bayfield and area a to
support the Ontario New
Democratic Party too.
We'd like to share those
reasons with you. Return
the tear -off below and
we'll send you that in-
formation.
