(News -Record photo) Goderich Twp. okays renovations for the Goderich hospital Goderich Township Council met on January 2 at which time council members heard a request from Alexandra Marine and General Hospital -to approve their proposed additions and renovations. Council moved to accept the sum of $1,588 as the township's share of the project with the understanding, that $1,588 is the top cut off figure, and that if the project is constructed for' less than the estimate, the township's share Will be reduced on a pro rata basis. George Brophy presented a sub -dividers agreement to council on behalf of S.A.M. Council agreed to study the agreement,to have the clerk consult with the solicitor and to meet on February 5 with Mr., Brophy. The Ministry of Housing submitted a plan of sub -division on 'part lot 4 B.L..concession now in the village of Bayfield. Council did not approve of the 40 residences all exiting onto the township sideroad when a paved road was adjacent to the sub -division. Further, since the road is paved and is under Bayfield jurisdiction, it should be better able to handle all traffic created by the proposed sub -division. Building permits were issued to Sid Bruinsma to demolish a back portion of a house and erect a two storey addition to the house. Council 'pas,sed a motion that the road grader operators be paid $6.17 per hour and that the group benefits be paid by the township. Council also passed a motion that the road superintendent be paid $612.50 twice monthly, that he be paid 21 cents per mile when on Got something to say? let everyone know WRIT. Accounts totalling $5,370.83 were ordered paid by council. Council then adjourned to meet January 15 at 1 p.m. Holmesville activities by Blanche Deeves WI meeting The Goderich Township WI held their monthly m.eeting on January 8 with. Hazel McCreath in charge. She opened by welcoming all members to the first meeting in 1979. Mrs. Alice Porter read the minutes of the last meeting and some discussion was held regarding the purchase of a table to be used in the school for WI functions. The roll call. was taken „by Mrs. Porter and it was decided to donate $80 to the Erin Lee Home in 'Stoney Creek. Trip first WI meeting was held there in the 1800s. Mrs. Porter gave a talk on the annual conference. The collection was received, coffee was served and Mrs. Charlotte. Norman ad" journed the meeting. The WI will be going to Huronview on January 15 to entertain the residents. Anyone wishing to help take the residents to the auditorium are asked to contact • Mrs. Milly Dempsey at 482-3386. The Clinton papers for the Varna area went astray and didn'-t arrive here until Saturday, which may have affected attendance somewhat. Mary Wood's efforts in informating customers who came into the store were appreciated. The prize winners, by an unusual coincidence, were couples. W.D. "Dub" Wilson took the men's high prize, his wife Doris got ladies' low. Bill Chessell had men's low, his wife Mary won ladies' high. (Bill claimed it was the bad cards he was dealt, and set out to prove it by trouncing my partner and I soundly the next night.)
