One major develop- ment in this area, the newsletter says, was the recent government ruling that' the transfer -of farm business shares to children is not subject to a capital gains tax. The newsletter lists a number of reasons that prompt farmers to in- corporate, such as a more orderly and gradual transfer of the business between generations; greater flexibility in how the owner is paid; a fairer distribution of farm income among family members for a better after-tax position and a lower tax rate on corporation income. Chrignnas was a very busy one for everyone at the Vanastra Public School. It really started a day early. Many of our boys and girls as well as some of our staff were actively involved with the Community—, Christmas Concert dn Sunday evening, December 17th. Mr. Ross was the master of ceremonies and Mrs. Hazlitt accompanied many of the groups on the piano. On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, we held our annual White Gift - carol sing. Dozens of gifts were brought to school by our boys and girls. These gifts will be distributed to. needy families in the Vanastra community by the Vanastra, Lions Club. Hopefully these families will have a merrier - Christmas because of the generosity of our pupils. On Tuescjay evening, the Community was invited to a movie "The Snowball Express".- It was enjoyed by an audience of pupils ani adults from our school, young people from the community and adults from the community. It was a very enjoyable, "get-together". This year, the staff of thei'Vana*a school rent41 a classic film which Was shown to our entire school on Thursday afternoon. This Christ- mas present was given to our boys and girls to thank them for all the nice things that they have done during the past year. On Friday 'afternoon, we were visited by Mrs. „nta Claus. I guess Santa is getting ex- tremely busy getting ready for his annual flight. However, Mrs. Santa brought our boys and girls a • treat and wished 'us all the same message that we would like to pass on to you.
