Public school news
This past week has
been a busy one! The
classes are preparing
many exciting Christmas
events.
In the meantime,
report cards have been
returned to school and
parent -teacher in-
terviews were held on
Wednesday of this past
week.

meaningful Carol Sing
and White Gift Service
plans from last year we
will hold the same format
again starting on Monday
December . 18 with the
Junior children - grades
3, 4, 5; and 5, 6. On
Sunday the primary -
kindergarten, grade 1
and 2 and on Wednesday
a combined primary and
Junior service will be
held. All these services
will start at 1 p.m. vand
end at 1:30 p.m.
The boys and girls have
been asked to bring a gift
wrapped in white paper
and labeled with a little
card that tells what it is.
The gift does not have to
be a brand new item and
the children do not have
to bring one if they are
unable to do so. At the end
of the week, these gifts
will be handed over to a
charitable organization
for distribution in our
community.
Next week will be
jampacked with many
interesting special
events.
All our school com-
munity is invited on
Tuesday evening, Dec.
19th to the Conestoga
gym to- see a film
"Snowball Express"

This Sunday, Rev. Ed
Den Haan will be
preaching at 11 a.m. He is
the Campus Minister at
the University of Guelph.
Sunday School is at 10
a.m. and everyone is
welcome;
Calorie counters
On Monday December
18, the Calorie Counters
will be having their
Christmas Party. The
ladies will be having a
penny sale of wrapped
gifts and a pot luck
supper. It will be the
groups' last meeting
before Christmas.
Mini -Teens
This week, 26
`Mustangs' were present
for their weekly meeting.
The group continued
work on their paper
mache bowls and next
week will be wrapping
their Christmas presents
to take home.
The following week, the
mini -teens will be having
their Christmas party but
it will be held on Thur-
sday, December 21st
right after school instead
of the regular Wed-
nesday.
Teen Club
This week, the teen
club had use of the
Recreation Centre
gymnasium for
basketball and volleyball.
Next week the group will
be having a card tour-
nament at the Resource
Centre.
Any young people
between the ages of 12
and 18 are welcome to
join. The group meets
every Friday evening at
the Resource Centre at
7:00 p.m.
Ladies craft club
The ladies craft club
has had their last
meeting before the New
Year. The quilting and
ceramics clubs will be
meeting again on Wed-
nesdays from 1:30-3:30 'in
January.
Come to the movies
Movies were cancelled
last week because the
films did not arrive but
will resume this Friday
for films and cartoons at
4:00 p.m.

Seaforth riders elect officers
The Seaforth and
District Saddle Club held
its annual Christmas
Party at the Seaforth
Arena on Sunday. Skating
and playing floor hockey
on ice lured the young
and the not -so -young to
the ice surface. The Mac
Ilwain line definitely,
needs brushing up before
next year's match.
After skating, a
delicious pot luck supper,
plus Kentucky Style
Chicken, was enjoyed.
Brenda Pullman at the
piano supplied lovely
Christmas background
music. Cards and games
followed. The little ones
were delighted when the
jingling of Christmas
Bells could be heard
outside, signalling, of
course, the arrival of that
Jolly Old Man.
The club's president,
Graham Sl dldice,
' thanked the ladies for

Christmas dinner. He
also expressed his ap-
preciation for the co-
